Sub 5s with 260bhp and one really fat bloke less than Rev’s 996
over 200kgs less, and lightweight flywheel coupled to the G50/10 transmission with closer ratios, asymmetrical Limited Slip Differential and steel synchromesh..... 😃
200kg ??

I’m seeing 260bhp in 1195kg
vs
295bhp in 1320kg

- so 125kg in my maths. Similar power to weight for the 2 cars

The RS has slightly higher max in 1st and 2nd hampering off the line punch slightly but 3rd is pretty much the same speed point ( about 104 ) - both make 2 gearchanges to hit the ton.

That’s impressive that Porsche added 4 wheel drive without adding a single kg...

Blimey
I didn’t realise he’d bought the girl’s version!
Still a 4.8 to 60 though
All the extra gubbins pegs it back to a ton and on top speed though

Still don't know what an asymetric diff is though :?
Would that be like driving with square wheels ?

Isn’t it relatively simple to make 4wd 911’s rwd 911’s anyway?

If you want to like.

That's what I wondered.

Also doesn't one of the quick versions start with a 4wd body because it has additional strengthening, or have I just completely made that up?

The GT3 uses the C4 body because it’s stiffer from the firewall forward. Some people prefer the C4 steering feel because of this and the slightly improved weight distribution (38:62 for the C2 vs 40:60 for the C4). If one were inclined, it’s relatively easy to ditch the front diff, propshaft and drive shafts and replace the front hubs with C2 items.

Given that my previous cars include 2 Imprezas, a GTR and the Golf R, I’m more than comfortable with AWD.

Not even picked up the car yet and you have already become a 911 bore. :D ;)

IIRC that 300k+ miles 996 started off as C4 then converted to C2.

Hang on a mo', what about the diff & shafts wrt the weight distribution?

Yeah, I would expect the drive gubbins to be the main reason for the different weight distribution. I doubt the C4 is lighter at the rear, so heavier front is the only way of doing it.

I would’ve thought it was obvious that the diff and driveshafts were a major part in the shift in weight distribution?

4.8 or 5.2 then. 5.2 sounds more like what I had in mind - sorry Mike. Disappointing you again

(I also never knew the 360 was 100kg lighter than the 355).
