Pretty much nailed it there, but also:

360 = 996 - everyone still teary over the old one and hates this.

360 CS = 996 GT3 - everyone completely forgets all their styling objections and loves this elevnty.

very much so

348 = 964 - not all that much love at the time but appreciated now.

355 = 993 - considered the last/best of a breed by people who can’t afford one any more.

360 = 996 - all new - everyone still teary over the old one and hates this.

430 = 997 - an improved version of the previous one.

458 = 991 - another all new - amazing, but people still bleat on about the Old ones with rose tints.

488 = 992 - improvements on the previous. Basically super car pace.
Spot on 8-)

Haven't had cause to look at pics of 360s for probably a couple of years or more, don't recall seeing them in magazines for example. So having seen pics of them in this thread, would agree that the looks are ageing ok. Still not as sexy as the 355 though.

Have you bought one yet!? 😂

Yeah, shoddy Italian workmanship; on the 360 you can see it, on the 430 the panels fit, but it’s still there underneath. 😁 NA V8 is a masterpiece though. Mine is running a standard exhaust due GT aspirations (think you still could hear it on our day out), but you can go a lot louder if you wish. It’s a million times more fun than the M4 imho, harder to drive, a lot more demanding to drive well but more rewarding also. Modern vs last gen, I guess..

Annoyingly, I’ve decided I don’t like the single light rear of the 458 spider etc, so until I can afford a F8 or SF90 (May be a while), I’ll stick with the 430. I’ve just had it detailed, aka de-swirled, so looking forward to seeing it. It was ready this weekend, but I was stuck in St. Lucia, so getting it out tomorrow hopefully. Unless it rains...

Funny enough, a mate has just bought a 456 and a 575 from somewhere in Kent. Apparently the guy is well regarded so if you’re looking for a pristine something in particular, let me know. My mate, as SSO also said, highly recommended going to Exeter for servicing, although I guess you want to do it all yourself?

Costs are like you’d expect, there’s a certain Ferrari tax to be paid for components, but there’s also other companies out there that produce arguably better components whilst still charging less.. I imagine the Aston is the same.

I keep it on a trickle charge, there’s definitely a quite significant drain (ecus everywhere!) so I find it easier to keep it fully charged. Probably knackers the battery quicker, but still better than the alternative.

Anything in particular you want to know, send me a DM.
Cheers,

Ian

LOL, not yet. There's a lot of groundwork needed for this. See other thread re: MINI ;)

I'm also convinced the general car price bubble is softening so I want to bide my time and see what happens later in the year when summer enthusiasm wanes and grey winter reality sinks in. I want a bargain, basically. I don't want to rush in and then find I'm £10k (or more..) down by next spring.

From some brief research, routine servicing is actually cheaper than the Aston. Outside of getting stamps in the book I can do most mechanical work myself. I don't think I'd contemplate a car like this otherwise.

I think ideally I'd want the equivalent of Coaster's GT3 - used and loved, but "high" (LOL) miles making it unattractive to the collector bufties. For example, this one has just cropped up on Autotrader and apart from the colour is almost ideal:

If a dealer's retailing at £50k, what did they pay ? £40k ? So I think my plan is perfectly achievable. I just need to be patient.

Are silver ones generally cheaper?

I think I know the answer to this but would this be an addition or a replacement on your fleet?

Looks in good nick. I actually think they look better in silver (or black, blue). Red doesn’t suit the 360 imho.

That’s what I’d read but the two good value ones I’ve seen advertised this week are both red so I’m not sure now !

Replacing. Errrr. Well, I’m not planning on selling the Porsche or the Aston. But I am running out of space. I guess I would have to get rid of Compact #2.

But seriously, if I can find a silver 360 Modena with factory bucket seats for close to £40k I’m going for it.
