Saw the engine size and the quoted power figure.

Thought it must have turbots.

Unpossible.

Then saw what it revs to 👍🏼

980kg, 12k revs, no flywheel and an H pattern box... will any normal person actually be able to drive it?

Doesn’t matter - it won’t be built...

And before you say if, I did read the article... THAT car still won’t be built

i agree, it’s about the 5th model that they’ve announced as the best thing ever that they haven’t made.

Had he announced anything since the T.25 in, what, 2008?

there was the T27, because the petrol t25 was already out dated, wasn’t there a rebodied smart roadster at one point, then some flat pack truck?

McLaren made a great job of the F1 because they were obsessive about the build, not just the engineering. They used a bespoke engine from a road-car manufacturer.

This appears to be just the same basic thing, 30 years on, with bits bought in from race-car manufacturers. I wish him lots of luck, particularly because I love the idea of an updated F1, but I can't see it being the sort of car Rowan Atkinson would buy and drive around in for 20 years.

Assuming the models he designs go up in increments of 1, then that’s the 50th, next best thing since sliced bread, car that he’s designed which hasn’t made it to production

I'll possibly work up more interest if it moves towards reality.

No flywheel at all? :?

And the fan to avoid wings? Hmmm. Its either going to be open, so will suck up all the leaves, dust, grit and fag ends and fire them at following vehicles, or the screens added to avoid that will clog up and stop it working (as you are approaching your favourite 200mph corner). :geek:

Also disappointing to see a cutaway without tall men / tiny ladies. Must try harder.

The Mclaren F1 had fans behind the front bumper to give it ground effects. Not sure how effective it was though as I can’t recall reviews mentioning feeling the ground effect. They also seem to have a pretty high ride height with no sealed floor :?

The evora has a fan behind the nose-mounted radiator. Which lies closer to flat than vertical. So that is prob for ground effects too. :geek:

IIRC he was never going to build the T25/27 himself, it was a proof of concept for iStream that would've been built by a bigger manufacturer if anyone was interested.

I usually see these low volume sports car projects as vapourware but I'd like to see this one succeed if I'm honest. Sounds like it would be interesting.
