Bizarre given Dinnys heritage but he doesn't seem familiar with the characteristics of a panel Van πŸ˜‚
I must confess to looking forward to driving a Van, when occasion requires.

Only about 5k in small vans in total

Our Yeti was the Elegance model so was pretty well specced, it was by far a nicer place than several Tiguans I had been in.

The Yeti was nothing like our Bongo which in fact is a van with windows so whoever said it was like driving a van is a nutter!

Ours was the 1,2, not fast but peppy enough. Paint quality was shit though so check under mud flaps if fitted and for touched up rust spots.

Longer than a Yeti, but 20cm shorter than a Mondeo, so yeah, criteria met.

OK, so it's down to a Yeti, Golf Plus or the left field Honda choice. I showed her a Yeti and she likes it so far. Will stick the other two under her nose and see which she prefers...

About 10yrs ago my neighbour bought one to replace her Golf when she was pregnant with her first child.

I mentioned it was a left field choice and asked why , she didn't answer and walked off after a lengthy silence πŸ˜‚

I suspect they were sold it on the basis that it's a Golf for people with kids.

They didn't have it long (months) and had 3 Q5's since.

Friends did, I’m not entirely sure why they picked it either. I borrowed it when my Civic was stolen and the rear seats sliding forward and back (so you can have huge boot or limo-like legroom) was nice. It sat a bit higher, before things like the Tiguan and other soft roaders really existed. Otherwise it was just like an odd looking Golf.

The Golf Plus, aimed at people for whom a Touran seems a bit decadent.

The Golf Plus existed for the same reason as the CMax. A bit more space, a higher driving position and the elevated seats in general made it easier to get babies and kids in and out and secured.

Since then people have decided that they want to compromise on those advantages by pulling up the floor higher when buying an SUV. But having watched family and friends with small children go through several CMaxs I get it, and it's not an unweidly car to drive.

The Golf plus existed for people who need a Golf, but want to buy one that looks retarded because they think kids need room for top hats.

Just get a Touran if you genuinely need more space,
