Can anyone identify the cars in this pic, to help date it ? I’m guessing Twenties but I know very little about this era.

On the left looks like an Austin 7, if it is the started at 1922
Re: Identify the Cars
It’s definitely something of this era
Re: Identify the Cars
Here's a 1923 picture which appears not to have the ivy (or very little of it, it's a bit blurred):
May well be a 1930s picture based on the amount of ivy, and teachers never having new cars.

Ahh, good thinking there Jobbo ! Also the tree obscuring the top left corner of the original pic seem to be completely absent in 1923.

Re: Identify the Cars
Scrap that, the photo claiming to be 1923 is actually a lot earlier, it's from some time before the fire in 1913. The small turrets in the corners were removed during the subsequent repairs in 1914.
Re: Identify the Cars
Yeh that sounds more right - Jobbo's photo looks more 19th century than 20th. Have a look at what Ansel Adams was churning out from the '20s onwards - photography was already pretty well developed (pun alert) by then!
Re: Identify the Cars
Photos from the mid 1800’s were better quality than an iPhone 6.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Identify the Cars
They were more tricky and less portable though as still used glass plates at that time. Fine for posed studio portraiture, less so for reportage or outdoor use.

There is one to the left of the main door, and two on the other side.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 10:30 am Can anyone identify the cars in this pic, to help date it ?
