As Stuart Gallagher pointed out on Twitter, the seats look nice.

Re: New 1-series
I don't hate the outside, although it would look better if the grille was about 20% smaller.
It is a shame that it's no longer rwd, but I fully understand their reasonings behind the change. They've probably lost more sales through poor packaging and 'bmws are shit when it rains ' compared to their main rivals than they have gained from enthusiasts specifically after a rwd small car.

Sadly this. IIRC 135/140 accounted for 2-3% of salesintegrale_evo wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 5:41 pm I don't hate the outside, although it would look better if the grille was about 20% smaller.

Always assumed it would be way higher

Re: New 1-series
Unpossible. Sorry.
Re: New 1-series
I thought they would make the 135 4 wheel drive, as they have, but I expected it to send more than 50% power rearwards, they might as well have left it fwd

Re: New 1-series
If I wanted a BMVW Focus 140i R(S) then it’d be great. Take the point about all hatchbacks sharing similar overall appearances just through general proportions but even so, BMW’s recent design direction does leave me a little cold.

Re: New 1-series
Well being AWD it will accelerate faster which seems to be all everyone cares about in terms of performance now.
I’m not surprised the M135 made up only 2-3% of sales, I probably see one every other day compared to 100 of the other models. M3/4/5 sales must be similar?

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: New 1-series
Before this you have to choose between an F40 and a golf. This is the answer - it’s called an F40, but it’s basically a Golf.

I love my diesel F40 golf M135i
Re: New 1-series
I'd have thought the new 1-series being FWD, would be more to do with saving money through platform sharing, more than anything else?integrale_evo wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 5:41 pm It is a shame that it's no longer rwd, but I fully understand their reasonings behind the change. Is it the mini platform now? Basically a cuntryman?
Re: New 1-series
LOLZ I wasn’t actually going voluntarily expose myself to looking at more pictures of it by clicking on that article.
It does raise the question why anyone is even talking about it on here at all given it has no appeal at all from any aspect any more! Just buy a Golf FFS.

Re: New 1-series
I want RWD but I’m very unlikely to buy a brand new car. How much of the generally good residuals on BMWs is down to enthusiasts being keen to buy those RWDs 5-10 years down the line ? They’re a different demographic to the people buying them new.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 5:41 pmThey've probably lost more sales through poor packaging and 'bmws are shit when it rains ' compared to their main rivals than they have gained from enthusiasts specifically after a second hand rwd small car.
How long before the 3 Series goes FWD ?? I’ll have a little cry when that happens.
Re: New 1-series
Given they’re now mostly 4cyl the interest has already gone in the average run of the mill 3 series hasn’t it?
BMW has clearly in my mind had the biggest drop in prestige from an evo perspective of any car brand in the last 5-10 years IMO.

Re: New 1-series
Because the old 1-Series was a decent package and not too bad looking in the end.
The new one is not only styled badly, but FWD too, so worthy of discussion.

Ok ok, I won’t stand in the way of your eulogy.
To be honest though nobody gave a rats ass before the m135i so really it was quite a brief flash of brilliance in the context of the overall life of the model.
If the 2 series inherits this dullness then that would really be more a shame in something that is (in its hotter variants) close to continuing the ethos of the early M3s

Ah good, so it's not just me. He's increasingly incomprehensible tbh.
