Lol. Ive had 7 TSI cars and the only engine problem ive had were coilpacks that were replaced under extended warranty.
Did you buy them at 90k ?
I dont think Scott has ever spent that much on a car Nath. ;)

Would be interesting to know the engine and actual car. I have bought plenty of high mileage cars and have never had anything significant go wrong. Yes bushes and things will possibly need replacing and things do wear out but 90k certainly would not scare me.

Depends what it is. My Alfa 156 had pretty much disintegrated by the time it had reach 90k

It is also hugely influenced by whether those are motorway miles or around town miles and age of the car. 6 years should be fine but if its a small citycar (which I presume it is) that's lived in town all its life and done 90k stop start and over speedbumps then it is clearly a different proposition to a 5 series that has been up and down the M-way for most of its life.

The A4 had 130k on it. The A3 had 95k on it.

My RS2 had 162k on the clock, ran like a charm.
Bora has 110k on the clock, no problem.

Maintenance is key. I'd have no concerns over a car with 90k if it was serviced as it should be. Ultimately, 90k at 6 years means it's problably spent most time on the motorway, so probably better than at car on 20k that's only done 2 miles to the shops and back 3x a day.

Therefore a TFSI and low mileage (and quite new at the time IIRC)

Completely irrelevant sorry.

GG mentions motorway miles but more importantly, if you’re buying around London, avoid the cars which clearly never go outside the M25. I saw a few Grand Vitaras advertised with temptingly low mileages (30k in 10yrs, for example) but when I spotted that they were being sold by traders in Willesden and Romford I knew they’d be London cars, with crap bodywork and buggered suspension.

Avoid VAG 1.2 & 1.4 TSI engines, especially with high miles.
