Yeah I’ll give you that. Although I’m weird in that I don’t like the 1’er coupes and prefer the look of the hatch.

E90/E92 shades the E46 for me.

1M is just cooking enough but, as you say, not as much of a looker

1M looks amazing until you put it next to a CSL - particularly around the roofline/rear pillar where the 1M starts to look a bit odd.

(I know that’s not a CSL)

1M looks great compared to a standard 1er but the proportions aren't right. The E46 M3 has perfect proportions, imo.

In that case, I'm weird too. The 3-dr particularly.

Cars like being used ! It would probably have been less reliable if it did fewer miles.

The current M2 is also much better proportioned as shown in the below pic.

It's better, but I still don't like the trailing edge of the side rear window and the c-pillar, or the convergence of all those compound curves and kinks just under the window. Too fussy.

Side-on is the worst aspect of the 1M though. Front and back, square-on, is what they're all about - arches, intakes and exhausts.

The arches on the 1M are perfect though - the M2 arches can’t quite work out if they are flared or boxed.

The 1M and M2 are still great looking cars though - just the tiny details that make them not quite as pretty as the e46M3.

Just to be different again, but I think the M2 is gopping, and the 1M actually fairly handsome. Yes the 1M has some curious proportions going on int he side profile, but that's only when viewed absolutely side on.

The M2 retains those odd proportions though and then distorts them with the overly flared rear arches and the longer front overhang. But then I'm no fan of any of the current M-cars - they've moved away from classy addenda to chav tat.

E46 M3's have aged well in general 😎
Yeah, I think they’ve turned the corner now. There was a stage where they were a bit “council estate”

Now though, mostly just well meaning enthusiasts

Can you buy a decent sensible mileage one still or have they gone all white background drug induced pricing?

The original M1 was the best looking BMW. The second best was the original 8 series (yes, I am biased) and the third best was the E34 M5 Touring. The E46 CSL is a car I would love to own, but doesn't quite make the podium. Oh, and Roger Moore was the best James Bond...

Have you taken into consideration that Beany owns one?

Alright alright its not an M3.

If E46s are chavvy I'm struggling to see the logic that an E46 M3 could be anything but.

I'm assuming that we're not saying that M3s are less chavvy than a normal E46.

When there are M3s up for sale that look like this I think you're on a bit of a sticky wicket

You're over complicating it all again. If YOU think they are/aren’t chavvy then they are/aren’t chavvy! (Delete as appropriate)
