Found this amongst my uncles stuff at my grandads.

What's that? You might ask..

It's the mighty Discatron portable entertainment system, as this ad I found in a 1966 car magazine shows

I don't know if it works, and judging by the dust on it I doubt it, but I don't care, it will be a cool period accessory to keep in the car.

Plus it's called a discatron 😎

Trip to Peterborough today to pick up a joblot of bits I won off eBay. Only really wanted the rear bumper which looked in suitably used but better condition than the one on the car. Also included a spare starter motor, dynamo, steering column with stalks, radiator and a few other bits and bobs which may come in handy when I start trying to get it working.

Whole lot was half the price just a rear bumper would have been once shipped over. 😎

Offside wing has arrived from Italy, just the nearside to go. Typically the main panel I have needed from the start will be the last to arrive 😂

My mum can remember it working, but it takes two weird size 9v batteries, not convinced it's worth the investment!

I used a forwarding site, it's been bought and should be on its way to them. Not heard anything since which is a bit annoying. I'll give it another week or so and start chasing.

Both the original purchase and payment to the forwarder are through Paypal so should at least get something back if it all goes tits up.

Not one I recognise, but looks rear engined and has the right rear lights so could be a coachbuilt special based on an 850, there are several small run versions about so seems the running gear and underpinnings were pretty adaptable.

It looked like there was an 850 with Abarth colours in the background of Harry M's Espada engine rebuild video.

Maybe hit up the workshop for parts .

Was that just someone who had parts or a classic car place ?

A random bloke with a huge workshop I as incredibly jealous of!

He had a thing for small old fiats, had an x1/9, 850 spider and a 126 in the workshop, 90s cinquecento and classic 500, owned an abarth replica original 500, and had a modern panda and 90s Alfa spider outside

Final large piece of the puzzle eventually arrived, the part I started looking for first when I decided to try and save it

While doing some tidying I found my spare 850 headlight trim ring and decided to sit it over a mk2 golf headlight to confirm a suspicion I had.

Turns out it fits pretty much spot on, just enough clearance to be able to set the lights properly without them catching the ring, and all the adjustment screws will be hidden behind it.

The baseplate will need trimming / fiddling but will be pretty simple and I'll end up with easily replaceable rhd beam pattern, h4 bulb holding lights which still have a suitably old fashioned reflector look.
