Decent car YouTubes

Post by Broccers »

Got any for me?

I can't believe I actually have been watching some TGE and Archie Hamilton content - the latter going on a race sim which actually shows he is not a complete cretin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_LTM-Hsf1M.

High peak autos is quite good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKSucRdZugM&t=1s

Uk based car reviews is what I am after really.

Hamilton raced at le mans did he not?

Pretty handy presumably..

Hoovies garage was a recent find after recommendation in the blinky thread.

Chris Harris drives on top gear is good, as is carfection with catchpole.

Is Jethro Bovingdon still doing Youtube stuff?

It's not so much a recommendation, but I saw that Seen Through Glass is in New Zealand currently, and looks to have spent the day with a Porsche 918 and 911R. So was wondering if it was the Rod guy who's sometimes here.

I've kind of gone off a lot of them though. Mr JWW has had a couple of interesting "mordern classics" reviews, 599 GTO, M3 CLS etc recently, which have been fairly decent. Although some of his other stuff I just find boring.

599 video -

Monkey London pops up on my recommended every now and then, and he seems to focus on older modified cars, and rags them about. Can't watch loads, but occasionally ok.

The project binky series is very good if you've not watched that either (I know there's a thread, but don't always read it, so not sure if you've watched all of those).

I think someone posted the Top Gear link with Chris Harris looking at 80s, 90s and early 00s German cars the other day, that was really good.

But interested to see if anyone else has any recommendations.

Depends what you're after. If you like builds then Skid Factory and Retropower are my current favourites. And a bit of Binky every few months or so  - although tbh I don't care about car stereos. Get on with the mechanicals.

Skid Factory is probably my favourite just now. It's worth checking out Finnigan's Garage if you like that type of stuff JL, it's one of the guys from Roadkill but working on his own stuff in his own garage so it's done right.

I've been enjoying the Gordon Murray Escort build but I haven't watched any of the other Retropower stuff.

I've ended up watching a lot of the Doug DeMuro reviews recently as they come up on the autoplay. I quite like when he does something old/unusual. I usually just skip past the supercar ones though.

Didn't realise that Harris was still doing his videos on the Top Gear channel until quite recently so I've been catching up with those.

The Henry Catchpole videos on Carfection are always good. Not sure I rate the other presenters on that channel as highly.

For anyone who likes Binky, there is a mine of entertaining metalwork on This Old Tony's channel. His video editing is wonderful and his commentary beautifully dry, meaning you can easily spend 20 mins watching some lathe work and feel like it was worthwhile.

There's a new episode of the Retropower/Gordon Murray Escort build up.

Also the new Skid Factory project looks interesting. BJ40 Land Cruiser with a V12 from a Toyota Century and a big turbo.

Benny, the guy who built the double unicorn Stagea with MCM and the Skid Factory folk has started his own channel. Just short videos at the moment but he has some interesting stuff so probably worth keeping an eye on.

Ahem. TWO turbos!

The latest Retropower didn't quite hit the spot as it started with them grinding the roof gutters off the perfectly finished shell but then never mentioning it again. That's a big deal!

See I couldn’t remember if it had one or two just remember seeing a big turbo in a shot of the engine bay.

Basically a home brew version of that mad Supra that Top Secret built in the 90s.

Yep that's the one. Toyota only made one V12 as far as I know, from the Crown?

Edit - Century. Mea culpa.

Poop, I forgot about this thread; some of the stuff I've posted in Randomness recently would have been better suited here.

A good reminder to watch past the credits as there's often a bit of gold to be had.

Stolen off Reddit. 7000 mile trip in tuner cars. Entertaining and the chaps come across well. And Dumplin' is lovely. Another episode next week. I did wonder if the mountains were 'the canyons' of old Evo forum lore...
