Today's want
Oof - I could be tempted. 991 GTS mit manuel und carbon backed bucket seats.

Only downside would be the electrickery steering, but to be honest versus 2019 hybridised and turbo'd cars, this seems to be less of a big issue than it once was! The alcantara on the seats would wear terribly too but to be honest I'd probably have the inserts of the buckets re-covered and find some standard 991 rears to swap in.
Thing is... £40k (or 100% again) to change

Re: Today's want
I remember a time when speccing the most skinflint version of a Boxster got you alcantara inserts on the seats. Think they called it something else though.
Re: Today's want
Phew, ok. So I can keep the Alcantara inserts. That should save me £500 recovering them. Just need to find the remaining 40k now...
Being serious for a minute, I'm sure this is going to end up being quite annoying as I'm confident that by the time I am ready to upgrade to one of these in a couple of years (I keep daydreaming about alternatives but realistically I love 911s too much) they'll then be 100k as Gen 1 991s with manual boxes are hen's teeth.
The centrelocks on the 997 GTS were ok but the ones on that car have me biting the back of my hand - those and the version on the Gen 2 cars are modern day BBS LMs for me.

Re: Today's want
I'm not exactly a waif like Italian either. Are there any comparable German examples
Re: Today's want
yeah that, our ML has alcantara centres and I wouldn't choose leather again!
Re: Today's want
Haven't ever tried one so I'd have to reserve judgment. TBH the box in the '7 can be recalcitrant from time to time so the steering is probably likely to be a bigger step backwards.
Re: Today's want
I think you can put me in the second category for the time being

Re: Today's want
Agreed. Alcantara is great, and my Cayman GTS is now 4 and a bit years / 32000 miles old and the interior is in almost as new condition.

I've got fuck all to do right now mate, so yeah - that
Re: Today's want
Very much this!
I had a Mondeo ST with Leather/Alcantara Recaro's and did 90,000 miles in 2 years and they were fine. I'd also done similar mileage in a Mondeo Ghia with leather/alcantara seats with no issues. It's awesome stuff!
Re: Today's want
Alcantara retrim on the loltus. Still looks like new after 8000 miles of my fat arse on it.
