How did you get to the MOT history ? The website's not recognising the reg for me.

Oh, OK, there's old versions floating around:

Looks like it’s had a very hyperactive child/dog living in the back seat at one point. How’s the back seat leather more worn than the front and what’s happened to the wood trim
How about not having a sig at all?

It’s just reflections from the windows, but is probably as worn as the leather in the flesh

I bought the 7 for commuting but that's just soooooo 2020 now. I can't see myself doing that again so the (relatively) good fuel consumption doesn't matter any more. Keep the luxury but add a regular frisson of excitement about whether it'll start or not.

Continental e.g.:

Would be perfect for your aims (the idea of getting one briefly crossed my radar), although I think you either have to level up your home garage or brace for the hefty Bentley servicing. Wasn't there a comment about various stuff having to be done engine-out on another thread?

I guess my one concern is that you're basically buying a more woofly version of your Aston with a couple of tiny extra seats? Not that having multiple cars with overlapping remits has ever been a major problem for you before...

its awesome, but who the hell thought that it would be a good ideal to put drawers to open outwards at about 8 feet up was a clever solution to storage?!

£16k for a 550bhp, 198mph Bentley with 50k miles on the clock is mental. You should do it.

So, my wife has a peculiar view on this. The 7 was a sensible car bought for a specific purpose and now that I no longer need it she thinks the answer is to simply get rid of it, not change it for a different, more expensive, less reliable car that I need even less.

OTOH, when you put it like this:

...it's quite a compelling plan (although as Alex pointed out, the 50k miles is a bit dubious on this particular car).

Put Touareg suspension and a towbar on it, get rid of the Cayenne, everyone's happy.

It certainly does the "practical" bit better than the Conti. But like that one, perhaps not this specific car.

Currently SORNd and with an MOT history suggesting a rather relaxed attitude to maintenance/upkeep. Also, seems to be a category S/N according to the HPI check.

MOT suggests it did under 5000 miles on one set of rear tyres when it was younger. So that’s either some very enthusiastic driving, or some shit alignment, or most probably clocked. In fact as the ad states genuine low miles that’s definitely clocked

Also, you just know that reg had conveniently placed black headed mounting screws by the second letter. Its INEMSE SPEC might make it tempting but run, run away, save yourself.

The steering wheel is the same as the Touareg, and the instruments are the same too, just with a different bezel. It's a VAG parts bin bonanza 8-)

The continental aged well, the model revisions really worked for the later cars, i would love one, getting old!

I know someone who remapped theirs and it was rapid!

Do not like. Rear arches are too wide, which ruins the original perfect proprtions, and the rear wheels are too large. If the rears were 16" the same as the fronts it would look much better as well. As restomods go it's a big fat "meh" from me.
