Today’s want
Re: Today’s want
I honestly can't remember if sending by sea would be any better - the roads up there simply weren't built to accommodate, say, a 100ft long load once you get off the boat. Getting out of Wick/Scrabster by road to the final destination would be just as hard if not harder than reaching the destination itself by coming up the Braes on the road, I imagine.

1960 Cadillac. Sooooooo cool. They really don't make 'em like they used to.

I like the colour. Single digit MPG or are we in GPM territory?

Re: Today’s want
Ignoring commercial traffic for a mo', a cruise ship goes/has gone from Tilbury stopping off at Scrabster and knowing that annoys me all the more there isn't a car ferry that does similar. It wouldn't even have to go up as far as that, north-ish England would do, far enough to avoid half the main road closures & diversions that run overnight.
Back to those cranes; that was a long ol' drive they had https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Windh ... e0!5m1!1e4

I prefer that view to the front, and the wheels would have to go, otherwise

Re: Today’s want
I'm OK with the wheels, those and the air suspension are just enough bling without going all restomod and ruining it. IMO.
Wifey wants this, which is also lovely in its own way:

I'd rather a 62-63 Caddy or Lincoln Continental but there's a big want for a full size 4 door on airbags.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 7:48 pm 1960 Cadillac. Sooooooo cool. They really don't make 'em like they used to.

An absolute unit
Re: Today’s want
Let's just assume we've all made that joke and move on.
Its a unique shade of brown, of that there's no doubt.
Cheers,
Mike.

Stuff like that is cool. Our wedding car was a friend's 1913 RR Silver Ghost and it was wonderful. It'd sit at 50-60mph all day long on decent A road. A great way to travel the 25 miles from church to the reception venue.Zonda_ wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 2:41 pmEven by this places standards that's pretty obscure!Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:06 am I'm OK with the wheels, those and the air suspension are just enough bling without going all restomod and ruining it. You did better than us! We squeezed into an Austin 7, but luckily the drive from church to venue was only a mile. He had to take the front passenger seat out for my legs to fit.McSwede wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 4:09 pmStuff like that is cool. Re: Today’s want
Absolute bargain for a car with a white background, white background cars (WBCs) usually sell for far more. Snap it up on that basis!Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 1:17 pmHave you suffered a recent head injury ?Carlos wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 11:46 am I'm struggling to resist, I don't know why, I just am

Not a recent, no, but probably a permanent; I like it (needs a sunroof though).

I agree. Didn’t Richard Porter run one for a bit? The underlying DNA is good enough to suspect it would waft but also allow it to provide some limited underpowered enjoyment. And I must confess that piped leather is growing on me.nuttinnew wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 8:50 pmSundayjumper wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 1:17 pmHave you suffered a recent head injury ?Carlos wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 11:46 am I'm struggling to resist, I don't know why, I just am

Re: Today’s want
She hasn't held a lifelong dream of owning a Crossley ! That would certainly be rather niche. It just ticks all the boxes of what she (thinks she) wants:
Pre-war
More than two seats
Not tiny
Convertible
And it has to be "a nice colour", and burgundy over black happens to be her favourite combo.
TBF I rather like it too, but we're a bit short of money & parking space right now

Strangely that doesn't do it for me, even though it ought to. Maybe it just needs bigger wheels ?ZedLeg wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 2:22 pm Have you seen this?
