Honestly, I can't decide if it's currently a good thing that I don't have the cash or a tragedy

Watches James Bond... Starts to Google user Aston Martins...

So, these DB9s, what are they like to own and run?

No idea, but my Vantage has been great if that’s any help.

They're no trouble at all, very easy and cheap to maintain. Never breaks. I'm saying that from the perspective of my experience of driving one for half an hour.

Edit: 50mpg all day long too!

Thinking about it, my experience may not be that of the typical owner's, nor entirely based on facts.

Suprised by how cheap DB9's are...

...which doesn't bode well for the running costs

It's really quite weird tbh, the DB9 & Vantage are very similar but to get the same V12 in a Vantage you're looking at £70k+ instead of £30k-ish.

Simply buy one of each, swap the engines over, keep the vantage V12 (that is now worth more than both) and sell the DB9 V8 "speed" for a vast profit. It really is that simple - all you have to do is shave a little off the V12 air boxes.

I love the DB9. It’s perfectly proportioned.

You joke but I’ve thought that a V12 Vantage that looked like a V8 one would be my ideal Aston for a while. Can’t be the only one.

I've always like this blue and I think it suits the 996 Turbo very well.

This weekend's Aston Martin hunt took me from a DB9, to a V8 Vantage and all the way back round to 996 Turbos.

I like the look of this one. It might not be an S or have the X50 upgrade, but more importantly and rather boringly, it seems to have had all of the right things replaced (including both turbos) which would normally make the running costs go from reasonable to eye-watering. Turns out Nebpor, formally of this parish, is on to his second one of these now.

I spent so long down the rabbit hole yesterday that if it wasn't for the new house, I'd have been putting the Boxster up for sale. I already checked out train prices to Shropshire.

I know its been described as conservative and dull to drive, but I can't think of a better all-rounder for this neck of the woods, especially when we move north.

Or maybe a 997 C2 S would be a better bet...

That does look lovely @Ascender . And at around 4.5k miles PA it’s clearly been used regularly - a good thing.

I must have missed your comments about moving North - where you off to?

Might be useful
Thanks for the link. I’ve been looking at Vantages as well recently, depending on my house/job situation over the next few months.

Maybe Astons are the new forum trend, to replace Boxsters?

We're going to build a place near the in-laws croft and take it over in time, so up in the wild north up by Helmsdale.
