1979 BMW 316 (E21) WITH E30 M3 TECHNIC https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1252788
I really like that despite the Alpina badges and mods being inconsistent with the M3 engine.

£33k though
Lovely 8-)

@duncs500 I have a SELOC account but I've never really used the site. Got a link? Is it Renmure? Also has an Ultima? He has a build thread for a Lister Bell Stratos on ScottishElises but it is a slow moving project.
He now has a separate build website. Hadn’t appreciated that he found a 3.2 to slot into it.

If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Not silver sadly, but these "open air" Compacts with the full sunroof are getting very rare indeed.

Not my want. My Dad seems to want another Scimitar just a few months after he sold his last one and bought an Alvis and bought a Bristol and sold the Alvis and had problems with the Bristol and now has it running properly again and is missing his friends from the Scimitar club.

It does look very smart though.

Curiouser and curiouser. It was sold at auction in Sep for £3,500(+fees) having sat in a museum for quite a long time. So probably not rusty [1], but also doesn't appear to have been used at all in the last ~ten years. So the entire drivetrain may well s**t itself the first time it goes over 30mph.

[1] yes I know the body is fibreglass, but the chassis is steel and they're about as rust-proof as every other sixties British car.

My Dad is a serial Scimitar owner, since about the late seventies. I have a lot of childhood memories of the blue one he had (MRX 112P, seems it's been off the road a long time now), including one time the brakes boiled on a long downhill and we went through a roundabout at high speed just about avoiding the other traffic :o and parked up in a lay-by, in silence, for a few minutes afterwards  I guess Scimitars are to me what Alfasuds are to Harry. A bit old and shit but hugely nostalgic.

My Dad never had a Scimitar coupe, it was always the GTE for him, but getting taken to various Scimitar events all over the place as a child I always rather liked the coupe.

This'll end badly. Probably.

But it'll be a good story to tell!

Dad has only had three cars that stand out (in 55 years of driving). A Volvo 544 (before my time), a Peugeot 404 (vague memories), and the E300D W124 (drove that loads).

He has no interest in cars, hence driving an auto Cashcow.

So how have you ended up here ? I can very easily blame my Dad. And very specifically, my brother, for getting me onto this here forum. You seem to have no such excuse for liking cars !

Step 1: win car on eBay, unseen, with nagging feeling there’s something wrong with it.

The Scimitar I posted a link to, I bid on it and won. All being well I should be driving to Lincolnshire this weekend to collect it.

Ah, I thought you meant you'd found something wrong with it already. Good luck 8-)
