Awful cars, they belong in the scrap heap imo (coming from someone who's first car (well, my mums car that I drove) was a Maestro).
Correct. Spunking £1k on one would be too much 😁
Is that how much a gallon of petrol and a box of matches costs in these insane times?

Get it bought 8-)

I'd quite like a to have a go in a MG Montego Turbo like my dad had when I was little, to see if it still feels as mental as it did when I was five, that was a quick car!

He still complains about how shit it was, even now all these years later if he sees anything related to it

He had a red 1.6L, a light blue 2.0 Vanden Plas and then a white MG one.

My dad never had anything remotely cool when I was around, he did have a VW Fastback on twin 40's before I was born, but the best achieved when I was around was his Celica 1.8VVTi (when I'd left home), a MK3 Cortina 1.6XL, Talbot Horizon 1.3LS, MK2 Cavalier 1.6GL and Nissan Primera 1.6 Circuit were the bang average cars I was ferried around in as a kid and teen.

I've never had anything boring.

My dad had mainly 2litre rep mobiles that he bought at about 5 years old and ran them til they died (apart from his yellow SD1!) He never had a BMW or even anything German, yet I'm a big BMW fan - which started with an E30 I wasn't really planning to buy.

what's your car history?

I'm not sure how cool a MG Montego ever was tbh

My dad had some interesting stuff, Granada 2.8i Ghia X, some sort of sporty Kadett, Cavalier 16v, Escort 1.8 16v LXi which was pretty much a 5 door XR3i, Xantia Activa and more I can't remember.

He had some proper bad stuff too, Marina, Allegro, Lada Riva, Sierra 1.8, Mondeo 1.8td to name a few!

Better than his current Kadjar in my kind, but the way things are, the Kadjar is probably quicker than most of them!

After the Maestro, Volvo 480 Turbo, Civic EG VTi, Mk1 CRX-16v, Granada Scorpio 2.9 (owned at the same time as the CRX), Civic EK VTi, L200 Strada, Accord Type-R, Mecedes A160 (owned at the same time as the Accord while I waited for a clutch on backorder for it), Civic MB VTi, Fabia VRS, Saab 9-3 Aero 2.0T, Saab 9-3 Aero V6T Wagon, Subaru Hawkeye WRX, currently L200 Barbarian and TVR Chimaera.

^ Ooh, wonder if it's one of the Mr. & Mrs. ones from way back when. G60 LTD was one, can't remember the other, maybe G6 OVW (?). Certainly not common.

A kit replica would do (I've long regretted not buying an on-the-road kit 356 coupe for £4000 many moons ago :( I still my eye open for a Banham 550 but on the rare occasion one does pop up the prices seem to be £toomuch).

Surely not much if you’re not getting one of the big engines?

Seems like a decent cheap barge.

There's a guy on Boatshoes that bought a high mileage 3L TDi one of those. Might be worth a read for inspiration/sanity checking.

I fancied one of those a while back. I can’t remember why as I had no need for such a car..

Think it was a ‘lot of car for the money’ type things.
