Saw a video recently where monkeys at a safari park had stolen some of the letters off one

More power to the primates.

I have no idea why these are suddenly really popular. I can't be the only one (other than my monkey brothers) to think they look absolutely awful can I?
Cheers,

Aye I'd have to refit the arches and Spoiler, maybe put the pepperpot wheels back on too. Although maybe the breaks necessitate bigger wheels.

The mechanical work looks like it's been done decently though and the car in general looks good. I hope they patented the intercooler numberplate.

When we dropped the van off at the garage to have the AC sorted I saw they had an MG Maestro for sale (and had sold 2 others recently via eBay). I mentioned I was after one the same as my old one. Late 2.0i, in DCR, preferably with the electric window option and not a project. He reckoned it would set me back 10k if one like that came on the market, I thought as much but hoped it wouldn't.
Spotted this yesterday: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325252764380 ... SwkeJiwHU8
Every box ticked and 10k
Money is there if I want it but I need to store it too and I don't have anywhere to put the TVR inside, let alone something that is likely to melt in the rain!

Nice late car, and looks good on those Rover alloys, but even with my rosiest rose tinted MG Maestro 2.0 efi glasses on, I couldn’t sink £10k into that…

 £10k?

Awful cars, they belong in the scrap heap imo (coming from someone who's first car (well, my mums car that I drove) was a Maestro).

I agree it speculative. Judging by the fact the earlier 87 car at 9k and another later car at 10k that are on C&C unsold I would think 7.5k for an early car and 8k for a late one like this is more realistic. I'll be holding fire for a while on this and seeing where it goes.

Those wheels look terrible on it. And £10k? Wouldn’t that get you a decent 205?

£10k would get a lot of things and not one of them would be a Meastro for me!

The 2.0i MG was a better drive than an XR2/3 of the time, maybe not a 205GTi but they were decent, by the time the later cars came out the build was fine too with the bodykits and colour coded bumpers they looked pretty good too IMO. The cooking models weren't remotely interesting or fun and an ashmatic 1.3 A-series with a 4 speed gearbox, beige bodywork and brown interior isn't nice so I can see why most only remember these with bad memories. They were a lot more boring looking than an Escort, Astra or 205 in cooking guise.

If you look at my car history you'll see I have never been one to run with the crowd. Never owned a BMW or Golf either. I quite lke the 1.9GTi but don't feel the love for them that I'd want to buy one, the phase 1 R5GTT is one little frechie I'd like but probably a lot more than 10k for a really good one.

I think the original MGF 6-spoke wheels would look better - similar but flatter than the Abingdons.

It was only when I clicked on the link a second time that I took in the full horror of the price. No. Just no. £10k? Is the seller on crack?

It would look a million times better on the correct spokey wheels. A million times better is still unfortunately - awful.

Probably and so is everyone trying to sell XR3i's for 12-16k too.

Fast Fords have always had a fanboy following though. BL products, well there are a few fans but I'm sure it's because they're cheap.

Correct. Spunking £1k on one would be too much 😁
