I love his content but crawling along in the F8 barely touching the throttle was too boring. The car left me cold.

I find it hard to believe a company that produces something as pretty as the 812 designed that... What a discordant mess compared to a 458/488. Almost as much a letdown to its forebears as the AM Vantage.

Having said that it seems to suit other colours a lot better.

100%. Surely they could have done something better? That massive gaitor looks awful. A nice stainless setup surely would have been within the means for a £350k car.

Only just watched this latest video. 100% on the gear lever - bloody awful. It seems to be a juxtaposition, in that it looks a big comfy mile swallower that you could cruise down to the the alps in with some friends (especially those rear seats!), but the suspension is too firm, the gearbox is way too keen to shift down (something I found in the Camaro I hired, so ended up driving everywhere in the manual mode) and the exhaust is too boomy.

Like he said, it needs a comfort button that just calms everything down so you can waft. Surely this is achievable on a 300k + car? Magnaride dampers, valves in the exhaust, gearbox remap and it's sorted.

Otherwise, its a real lottery winner contender.

I guess the thing is that if you wanted it to be less manic you could stick with the original Chrysler engines and update the suspension.

You can get aftermarket fuel injection and parts to make it easier to use and make more power. The torqueflite transmissions are pretty strong.

The main benefit of the LS swap is weight and it being a more modern package.

I’m assuming things like the suspension and exhaust are tailored to however you want it, and I’d have thought the transmission would have been remappable too.

£350,000 for a restomod car - a nice one.
If I wanted to spend that much on something modified I think I’d just commission a specialist. Might as well have every nut and bolt specified as per your requirements.

The Taycan appeals but its huge.

The charging speed is pretty rubbish though I thought. I always thought it was the charging towers which covered 2 spaces which throttled speed back, not entire charging stations ? Is that Harry charging the car before it was pre-conditioned for a fast charge ?

Not a fan of the noise but the logic behind the 2 speed gearbox makes sense and is a novel way to make it more of a day to day car.

The charge rate was low because his battery was at 60%+ so the car has to manage the battery and charges accordingly. If he'd turned up on 20% it would have ramped right up in no time and blasted him to 80% percent within the hour. I can't tell if he's being deliberately ignorant on these EV reviews to be honest, even the slightest research reveals this info, as no doubt would the press pack/RTFM.

As for the price, there is a pricing model for Rapid chargers being higher cost than the lower rate units, so you pay extra for super speedy charging (the idea being, if the car has it then you can likely afford to pay extra). The market is all over the place to be fair.

And he reported a low battery range at the top of the video, this could be due to a new battery/vehicle so its not done many cycles yet and hasn't settled down. That said, 94kwh battery and 230miles is a little upsetting, the Kona will do 250+ miles on 64kwh.
