When I started driving insurance just stopped when it ran out. They sent you a renewal letter and if you wanted to go somewhere else you just started the new policy from when the old one ran out.

No need with all the above bollocks every year.

When I changed to the Boxster they royally buggered me so had to cancel it in Jan where essentially got 12 months for half the cost I was paying pro rata.

Speaking of the porsche I did a wbac to see how terrible it looked in these hard times - 3000 quid up than before in Jan - I do take the summer factor in but was quite surprised as its done 5000 miles more.

Checked the oil, coolant, tyre pressures etc on the CLS. All fine. Got a new rear wiper because the old one was probably the original and the rubber was cracking.

Having checked the service history, it hadn't done many miles since its service in May 2019 before I bought it in March this year so it's probably not in dire need of a service yet; there's still 9k to go until the advisory mileage for the next service. So I'll ignore the warning on the dash which is flashing up that it's 45 days overdue, because none of the bloody Merc specialists have got back to me. I'll get it done in a few months.

When I bought the cayenne it had a knackered headlight and common logic was that you had to order ballasts in pairs and code them in. I didn’t. I originally ordered an aftermarket ballast from Germany via eBay but when the seller said it wouldn’t work and I had to have an original Hella at double the cost per part x2. No one really knew the definitive answer on the Cayenne groups So I took a chance and ordered a replacement Hella, plugged it in today and the headlight works, I still have an error message on the dash about a headlight malfunction but at least now I can get it MOT’d and apply for a logbook.

Gradually getting quicker as the days go on and the boost issue is sorted but it still doesn’t feel like a 4.8 twin turbo with 500bhp.

After chasing down issues on the lotus it was only a day on a dyno that finally got to the bottom of the numerous issues..

Not sure if that's an option Nic, many things don't become apparent til its under load.

I suspect the fact numerous horses appear to have gone missing indicates it is under load but misbehaving

It used to boost to .8 under hard load and then bleed away pressure which was obviously due to the kink in the vac pipe, it would sense one turbo was overboosting and then bleed away boost to prevent it blowing up is what I can surmise. Now it boosts up to .8 and then holds a steady .6 bar. Gearbox is also much more willing to kick down which is adding to the experience a bit more.

Still convinced modern cars are much much more quicker and economical due to the modern gearboxes rather than better/more powerful engines.

But yes dyno next and if I’m getting it on a dyno it’s getting mapped at the same time. 4 wheel alignment this afternoon and I’ve got 30mm spacers on their way to stop it looking shit.

Hi Duncs. I wasn't really planning to sell it tbh. I had the MOT done and then it crossed my mind that with 13 months' MOT it would be a good time to sell, and it's not like I use it apart from the odd trip where either I could just use the Yeti or could take the Fabia instead.

I spotted someone looking for one on the Megane Facebook group at a price I was happy to accept, so pinged a reply. It went from there. I never advertised it as such. I didn't publish a gallery of pics anywhere, just sent him. few snaps and answered some questions. Also convinced him to take the spare pair of tyres and wheels off me for a small premium - saves me the hassle of selling them separately and provided a point of negotiation when selling. I didn't even wash it, though it was fairly clean from being washed a month or so ago. He thanked me for that as it showed the car more honestly, and then, he said, he could have the joy of washing his new toy himself.

Next, well there are a few ideas:
- Nothing, just buzz around in the Fabia when needed, which will be fine until winter when it gets ice on the inside of the screen if I need to start commuting to the station again or driving longer distances (to get to work by avoiding public transport).
- As I have fond memories of my E30 325i cabrio, a small/smallish 6+ cylinder 4wd or rwd 4 seater convertible (which I think, in my imaginary small budget means a 125i or an A4/S4). Not a 3 series as the neighbour has a 430d cabrio and clearly I can't copy him. CLK280 seems to be the only other thing coming up, though as I had the CLK55 before so maybe not one of those. Had rust issues, but was a 2003 model so maybe a later CLK would be better.
- an electric car if a stupidly low price deal comes up like the Ioniq deal I spotted for £79/month plus a small deposit).
- a Lexus LS400 as I was looking at those before I bought the A8
- something else entirely

Megane EOTR: it was surprisingly reliable. It was quick as hell. Making good use of front diff was addictive. I loved the look of it. Rear visibly was crap. Practical enough. Dan had it right having 18s on his for a softer ride. I've been in some very well sorted ones on track but now I have the Fabia with cage, buckets and harnesses I wouldn't want to track the Megane any more or spend a fortune upgrading it to be really effective on track. I'll miss the power and torque though, for sure. For now anyway.

Smooth and easy 8-)

I had a couple of runs with that car when ScottF owned it. It was not slow.

Yep, just the kind of sale you wish for really.
Even after I took the decat pipe off for MOT purposes (I should have left it and added a sport cat, but didn't think of it enough before the MOT) it was still rapid. 20bhp/lb ft less with the OEM cat back in. Popped a bit less though, after that. I didn't have a friendly MOT place like Scott did.

Some odd wear I’ve not seen before on the front of the TT. It’s pretty much identical on each outer front tyre.

I ran 36psi front, 32 rear, there is no feathering and across the tyre the measured difference is only 0.5mm.

Fronts are lasting around 5/6000 miles but it does get leant on. It’s pretty neutral with no understeer unless you act like a wheel twirling knob.
