Happened to me earlier in the year, just nowhere near as bad as that. It's so annoying, so hopefully the culprit gets done for it.

Never found out who hit my car, the CCTV didn't cover where I'd parked, and the feed to the server was broken apparently...

What made it worse for me, is it was done at work, and I work at an insurance company... Fuckers!

All that would piss me off worse than the actual hit and run.

Yeah, fucked me right off when security told me that! Still not really over it now, and it happened back in February.

Weekend visit to silverstone for the Walter Hays Trophy with the race team. Was deliberating between taking the M240i or the 3 Series. decided to go with the M240i despite it probably going to use a load of fuel..Wait What..!

Stopped for dinner

Final result when i got home.

That is genuinely absurd given the performance. You mentioned something about it doing fancy pants gearbox stuff to keep the fuel use low in eco mode?

Nothing that fancy pants. It just coasts in neutral. So if you’re going down hill and lift off the engine just idles. If it senses the speed going above the limiter it will re-engage the gear for engine braking.

at 70mph its only doing around 1800 rpm in 8th gear. Think thats what makes the difference.

Ha, yeah, I'm doing about double that at those speeds. Distinct lack of an overdrive on the pre-facelift E46s

That’s quite something; with decent average speed too!

What is it 340+ bhp or something perhaps more? It’s 3L twin-turbo isn’t it?

What mpg did your Golf R get on a long cruise?

Family member has a RR Sport SVR which averaged 38 mpg from Kent to Devon and back 2 weeks ago. Big engines don’t drink much when on the move.

340 quoted as standard but they usually dyno a bit higher. Best i saw in the golf was high 30's although everytime i took it a long run it was usually filled with luggage and 4 up. I was flying solo with a flight case at the weekend.

ETA - 3.0 Single Turbo. The M2 gets the twin turbo.

When I played fuel station roulette in my GT3 the other week, the onboard computer showed a theoretical range of 480+ miles, so almost 35mpg.

In reality, IIRC under my ownership I got 19mpg. (8900 miles)

  I wish. without the photos I'd have been screaming "Bollocks!!"

The most I've seen on a run IIRC is about 42mpg coming up to Scotland (so all up hill) and that was driving like a granny. Those figures are astonishing really.

I'm too ill disciplined TBH. As soon as traffic clears or roads are quiet I just can't resist stamping on it.

To answer another question, mine ran 360.1hp & 405.6592ft-lb  as standard with a PPF.

Twin scroll turbo FWIW
