Topped up brake fluid on the Megane. Imminent death, 'Brake system failure' warning hasn't shown up since.

Check your nipples and make sure they arent leaking. its very unusual for the brake fluid to drop. Points to a leak somewhere. The Brembos have two nipples on the front callipers.

Been running the Evora on Super since I had it - I don't do many miles, so thought it was worth it, despite not having a knock sensor or self-learning ECU like Mik's S.

However, I got stuck in the week and slapped some 95 in it, and it actually feels a little better for it. A quick Google on TLF suggests some others have found the same, especially with the 3rd cat gone. Strange, but it's cheaper so I wont complain. I'll try another tank, then switch back to 98 and see what happens.

Pad wear should be allowed for within the capacity though shouldn't it? Check for leaks anyway

I've been cutting it fine financially the last couple of months - and next month - so I think end of september, I'll do the Service II myself; Brake fluid, engine oil, gearbox oil, diff oil, belts etc. Almost certainly needs an idler, or at least a diagnostic power steering fluid swap (Apparently pumps are a consumable according to internet legend, but fluid is cheaper for now).

Touch annoyed I've let myself get things so tight money-wise lately, but the last two years have been....fucking weird, and I'm sorting them out, so meh.

Be nice to be able to justify a decent exhaust in a few months for roof-down winter fun, that'll be sure!

A quick Google seems to suggest the Boxter S does have a knock sensor though, so it should take advantage of it. Someone on PH says their 987 tells you to run it on 98 in the manual?

Previous owner of my 987 S manuel advised me to only put 98 in and FFS don’t go near supermarket fuel. I’ve stuck with that and have no intention of changing.

Why should supermarket fuel be avoided? Nonsense. I only ever buy Super from the local Tesco or Sainsbury's and the car runs fine. Ironically the only time we've had trouble with either of our beemers was on BP Ultimate...

It's more important you buy from a station that's busy as you're less likely to get stale fuel

Bp ultimate is the only stuff that made my e36 feel flat. In fact the only fuel I've used that made it feel noticibly different to anything else I've ever used.

99.9% of its fuel in the 120,000 miles of my ownership has been Tesco 99

Yeah, I raised that with the specialist I bought it off and he told me they usually ran them on 95 (although never supermarket) without an issue. Been running it on 95 since I got it, switched to 98 a couple of weeks ago as an experiment but I’m failing to notice anything.

This is all anecdote rather than evidence though. Probably if you did a proper blinded randomised trial there would be changes. Possibly the Nurburgring lap time declines by 15s and you would fail to have a 172 in the twisties.

My Triumph Street Triple used to run really badly on Morrison’s 95 (poor idle, occasionally stalling whilst idling, sluggish throttle response, bogging down if you opened the throttle too quickly), especially from cold, but only at low revs. It was bad enough that I’ve stopped using it in anything. Never had that issue with any other fuel, including other supermarkets.

I still tend to use V-Power in everything, though.

Last visit to the rolling road, the Aston made a sniff over book output running on Tesco Super. I’m happy with that.

Indicators had been playing up on the 7 meaning I haven't been able to take it out for a week or so. Bit of a bugger when summer is ending. I tried replacing the hazard switch, cos it's always the hazard switch. It wasn't the hazard switch. Bought a flasher unit too, but finally got a chance to disappear into the garage last night and it turns out the sproingy bit the bulb sits on in the front wasn't seated right.

All was finally well in the world as I could then take it out for a dusk drive and thrash the bejesus out of it. Donuts, tyre smoke and angry waspish noise ensued. Love it.

i put 40k on the Golf R - Primarily ran on Tesco 99. Run perfectly fine. Thats what i run the M240i on as well.

We run the race car on V-Power but that's more a logistics decision as its easier to go to shell on the way to the circuit. Same with the elise when i take it on track.

Just as well the 7 has been a keeper - I'm not sure you'd squeeze in anything much bigger without some considerable re-organisation.
