I’ve seen a new 4 with that grille. Didn’t look too bad all in black.

Well it looks better than a Golf yet remains bland and uninspired.

^Without the VW badge I would have assumed it was a chinese brand - very MGish.

My load:

Nissan Cima - this one's a 4.5l v8, they also came with a 3l v6 turbo:

Love the stick on gills - it would have been too subtle without them. I looked up the reg and it's a real 750.

Never noticed how clean the rear end styling is:

I’ve never met the owner of these, but I live about a 15 min walk away and the SM must have been here for at least 15 years.
I’m amazed that they’ve not rotted into the ground, and the owner must have lived here long enough that he has some sort of legacy right to four on street parking permits in central London.

Was sat behind a new Defender yesterday. Christ not only are they vast - they appear bigger than any other JLR product - but they don't half look cheap and naff. Acres of cheap looking plastic, and some fairly crap looking rear light clusters that look like they were bought from Alibaba or something.

Probably didn't help that it had been specced with loads of extras including some godawful grey box on the o/s rear, what looked like a plastic ladder on the n/s rear with roof rack, and a snorkel kit.

That roof rack looks funky. I still can't get used to the massive spare wheel they're all carrying, I wonder if they will all suffer with a sagging rear door like the old Defenders after a couple of years.

A Juke with it's fog lights not on :o

Agree with the rear light comment. I guess legislation meant they had to have the little ones if they wanted the large, but it looks poop so they should have found a better way.

Those side-pannier things (no idea what the official name is for them) do look awful.

Can you imagine the situation where you'd filled every inch of the vast interior and need an extra back packs worth of space!

In reality it really doesn't. I cannot emphasise just how cheap everything looked, including that central bit of the rear bumper. They all looked like the sort of plastic that would deform significantly under any duress and which is normally found on engine covers in French cars - the sort that are held on by 4 plastic clips that you know you're going to break at least 2 of when you try to pull the cover off.

Check it out at 19min 40.

Nowhere near the storage capacity of a back pack. Truly rubbish!

Today, red fiat coupe, red mk1 mr2, and a Citroen xm ( not red)

Seen a few new defenders now and still hate them, on paper they might not be much bigger than the old one, but they certainly fill those dimensions

Saw a 911 SC Targa sat at the lights, caught my eye as it looked in good nick (even though I'm not usually a Targa fan). Pulls away silently! Shocked me a bit.

Although the wheels were different, it could be this very car. Link.
