Teh new TVR Griffith fred

Post by mik »

Since we lost the last discussion.

I really want this thing to be special.

clickz

As per others who responded to that tweet, I think bringing it in behind a Sagaris underlines how epic the Saggy is and how relatively safe (dull?) the new car looks.

Car sounds can be difficult to record, but this (and the last promo vid from tvr) just sound bizarre to my ears. And not in a good way. I am far from convinced that side exits from each bank can possibly sound as good as a rear exhaust with all 8 hammers combined :?

I’m not convinced by its looks still, putting it by the old TVR just shows how un-TVR like it is really.
How about not having a sig at all?

I don’t care. They’ll sell 20 then go bust. Again.

Generic. Has any reboot of a defunct British sportscar maker name been successful, ever?

20 is probably optimistic I'd say.

Like the sound, not keen on the looks. The Sagaris is beautiful in an aggressive way (like the Cerbera, Chimp and Griff before it), the new Griff doesn't have the beauty of the old cars.

Well, Aston-Martin has gone bankrupt seven times, but was always quickly brought back.

Didn’t the Sultan of Brunei order some custom designs that kept it going through the late Eighties, or is that just folklore?

ETA - wouldn’t buy that TVR, and I paid a deposit on a T350C even after I did a test drive and the door wouldn’t open from the inside! 🤦‍♂️😂
Cheers,

Probably. IIRC he kept Rolls Royce afloat in the 80s as well.

It sounds absolutely dreadful - like a particularly large hedge strimmer or something. Someone should cut the cord on that.

I just looked at the still picture and didn't press play and thought that it looked ok. After reading this, I actually watched it.

It's like a Chinese knock off of a TVR. The Sagaris looks great and makes the new one practically invisible. Styling was one of TVRs strong points. That and ferocious acceleration. What they needed was reliability and not to be a massive financial gamble to purchase. I don't think they've managed it.

Latest Octane mag has the story of the guy that did "Pub2Pub" (northernmost pub in the world to southernmost (or near enough)) in a Chim. I just really want one of those now... along with the 1,000,000 bumper stickers it has on it :D

He's also buying a Senna, so must be a fan of the 'built in a shed' look.
