Simon wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 6:20 pm It also shows that the '200bhp target' from a few episodes ago was BS too. With all that head work, plus a good turbo, you're talking between 250 and 300bhp at least.
That size of modern turbo would support 500+ at a guess.
They also explicitly want it drivable though, as it'll be a road car, so something smaller for a quicker spool, and around 300bhp would be my guess.

Maybe they're just sandbagging in public so they don't have to pay a lot for their insurance when it's finally on the road.

Interesting, although I'm still gonna say sub 400hp - again, usable on the road - and the sort of roads they've shown off, they ain't 400+hp roads.

Yeah, I''ve never seen one driven on single track roads. Anywhere.

They would've chosen something smaller, easier to package and faster spooling if they'd wanted "only" 400hp. It might have a low-boost mode and then an all-hell mode for Goodwood hillclimb ;)

Perhaps - I'd be genuinely quite surprised if it's knocking on 400hp (or more) though.

Nah my old 3s made 440 at the crank with a std bottom end, old-skool turbo and cams. I'd suggest they will be aiming for 500, but it depends on how well their weird pulley drive system works in practice.

Yeah, 4wd, sticky tyres, decent diffs. Easily usable power these days. New sticky Michelin tyres pretty much tame any car formally thought of as a widow maker.

Wonder how many times the words “whose fucking idea was it to put this in a fucking mini” were screamed whilst making this episode 😂
