Schkoda?

Post by Rich B »

Have I been pronouncing this wrong for my whole life or are they hamming it up for the adverts? There's a Skoda ad running on the radio that really deliberately says "schkoda" about 7 times.

Skoda or schkoda?

Just heard this on Radio X. Sounded like she was over-egging the pronunciation to me! Whether I'm saying it right or not doesn't bother me enough to change how I say if I'm wrong anyway *shrug*

in the words of EMF, her pronunciation is "unbelievable".

At least she sounds fit. I think she knows it though.

There's been one on TV as well I think. Or YT. Struck me straight away as well.

But then none of us says:

Citroen - Sit-row-enn
BMW - Bay Emm Vay
VW - Follks-vargen

and Porsha as you point out.

When we got our new BBQ Mrs mik’s best mate came round and said “ooh you got a new vay-bar”. Which totally confused me.
