New 992 GT3

Post by KiwiDave »

Watched four vids now - all mention it's now too stiff to be considered as a daily road car...

I have a feeling my lotto win car might still be the Touring...

Watching Harris’s video just now. He reckons it was pretty comfortable while he was bashing up and down the motorway.

It is quite extreme now though. Hard to see where they’re going to go with the RS.

I would imagine those vanes on the underfloor would also be reduced to small plastic splinters under the car the first time you traverse a speed bump.

Also, whilst it sounds good, its not a patch on the previous model - I presume this is the first one with a mandatory petrol particulate filter?

Harris mentioned that - they have piped more intake noise into the cabin to offset less exhaust noise. I predict very quickly there being an aftermarket delete kit.

You can only buy 2 at a time MINIMUM - if sensors don’t confirm that the car is being RACED against AT LEAST one other GT3RS then it (they) shut down and combust.

5% better than the last one.
I also want it about 15% less than the last one.

This. I was following a 2019 GT3 yesterday along the length of the M26 and M20. Sounded great as we did the usual procession of brake to 50 under each gantry then mash it to 100 between them. So much want.
How about not having a sig at all?

Really not liking the looks. It’s fussy; I kept thinking it was an RS model so that’s probably going to look particularly bad.

Frankel on The Intercooler reckoned it’s a deliberate step to a different GT3 next time, which is plausible. Leaving space for a Touring-style version to be more distinct.

Funnily enough, although not really a Porsche fan that balance of NA engine and grip seems quite refreshing against the mega torque turbo cars everyone else is making.

I really liked the Touring from the 991 series, felt like it would be my pick. If Frankel's correct (and Catchpole in his vid) then the Touring having its own vibe just strengthens my want.

As an aside, I also watched the MrJWW vid - quite stark how little you actually learn about the car compared to from actual journos like Catchpole, Frankel and Harris. I have to assume that's because he just doesn't know enough to be able to describe it back to camera? Or that's not what his audience wants? Either way, it's solidified my respect for the OG journos.

Which always makes me think of this walloper.

Watch 1m00 to 1m40. He has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what he is looking at other than colours and logos.

Just get excited.... that’s it. 🙁

 Here's what I believe is something called a kart, it has various colours and patterns on it. That is so cringey.

The news GT3 is a mess visually (presumably I'm allowed that opinion this time because Jobbo thinks the same?) I don't get how they've managed to make both the front and the rear look worse than the normal models when the previous GT3s got it so right.

When I was watching the videos yesterday I thought that a Touring version with just the little lip spoiler and a less fussy front end would look quite smart.
