McLaren 600LT - In sickness and in health

Post by revsRus »

I was reluctant to start a dedicated thread on my January purchase as it seemed indulgent, especially since I’d already shared first impressions on the EOTR GT4 thread, but after 2300 miles enough stuff has happened to justify spotlighting my ownership experience so far.

I anticipate this thread to be a bit heavy on ‘issues’, certainly most of what I’m going to post initially will be about problems I’ve had so far, but as things stand I’m very much impressed with the car and have had many wonderful journeys and experiences in 2.3k miles and 11/12 weeks of ownership. At any point If I feel I’m negatively misrepresenting the ownership experience I’ll try to balance with a tale of delight and wonder from a memorable drive - of which there has been many so far.

Ominous intro right?.....

I’ll start with a positive, after a few indiscreet nudges from @mik I went out yesterday afternoon to my local airstrip and did a 60-100 time. Here’s the setup for my phone (double sided tape job) and the footage.

It managed a 2.92 sec 60-100 which puts it comfortably at the top of the roll call leaderboard. Which Ferrari, now usurped, was in the lead before?

8-)

They really do take off like nothing else, there's just no lag is there.

I think they sound great as well but many don't, they're great bits of kit.

Tbf there is noticeable lag. It sits on the 60 in this video for a fraction of a second even though my foot is hard down, not evident from the footage but I guess costs 1/3 second or more in this test.

Yeah, it's a shame pilouil didn't make it over. A massive Ferrari fan boy, but still good to see someone using them as intended.

I'm pretty sure your spelling is correct mik.

I wasn’t questioning any spelling, we just posted at the same time..

I remember he had a weird combination of a 488 GTB and a Citroen C2, I think..

Ah yes, a 488 and C5, I remember that now!

An odd 2 car garage, but an interesting one!

He seemed to use different speelings of his name - doesn’t appear on current roll-call, but Google found an earlier one :

Pilouil - Citroen C4 Cactus 1.2, Citroen Mehari, Citroen DSuper, Ducati Monster 1100 evo, Ferrari 488 GTB

ANYWAY.... tell us about the LT Pete :D

It was nice on the podium whilst it lasted. Sigh.

He split his time between France and Morocco ISTR. Pilouil, not Pete.

If we consider only current forum users.... you are 2nd ;)

(Actually I shouldn’t do that - it just highlights that the vast majority aren’t active any more.... 😬 )

I question the aerodynamics of Super Pursuit Mode.

Also, did they just pick long words for "Passive Laser Restraint System"?

We all need green lights on the accelerator pedal.
(but why the button press after he's already told KITT he wants Super Pursuit Mode  )
Left over crest; tightens.
