Lotus Elise Club Racer

Post by scotta »

2 stage correction on the CR today and a coat of wax. The paintwork was a mess from the dealer. Dunno WTF they had washed it with.

Anyway - 2 days work but some good results.

Yokohama Advan Sport V105. They are OEM fit on the new 220 Sport & heritage models. Not sure how they will be on track though so looking at alternates.

That looks really close to the Renault blue in natural light, very cool colour.

I know this is all very relative - it's an Elise, not a Merc - but how do you find it in terms of refinement compared to the S1?

Going down the motorway on a winters night in an S1 was always a miserable experience of noisy, droneyness with clonky suspension paired with a crappy heater and a sill digging into your leg. S2 wasn't really much better. How is the S3 in this regard?

The key is to leave the Elise at home in the garage when you need to go down the motorway on a winter's night.

It is 100% not for motorway duties!

The 2Bular sports exhaust is loud! the suspension doesnt clonk but to be fair it didnt clonk all that much on the S1 after fitting the Nitrons. The seats in the CR are much better for comfort which is surprising as they are just a bit of lightweight plastic and some padding. The radio is better. The lights are worse. I never found the sills an issue - mine had brand new padded sill covers fitted

Get rid of the Silverstone sticker and there will be NOTHING wrong with this car.
