Ordered some new rubber yesterday in prep for its first track outing (in my ownership) Ive gone for Yokohama Ao52 which are OEM fit on the S3 250 Cup cars. Did a good bit of research and these seem to get unanimous praise from all. I know a guy with a 20th Anniversary S3 that runs them and he rates them highly (See below) You will notice me in-front of him - this did not last long as there is a good bit of power advantage to the S3. This outing was what actually got me looking at S3's.

I put the CR into my indy specialist last week for some work. Oil change with Fuchs Titan Pro Race S, Rbf 660 brake fluid, RBF fully synthetic transmission fluid. I also had new rear vented and cross drilled disks fitted and Pagid RS14 pads fitted all round.

They had "Changed the oil" before i picked it up but the oil came out looking like fucking treacle. Was definitely a good idea to get it done prior to any track time. The supplying garage contributed to the brakes and fluid change. so it "only" cost me £650 instead of £830.

The brakes however are now epic.

I'm in two minds on that. I definitely wouldn't have fitted it but I dont know how long its been on there and as a result dont know what the paint underneath will look like. I dont want to remove it to have a bit of unfaded paint that sticks out like a cobblers thumb.

You had one opportunity for “My Other Car Is An Elise” but that was missed. So you’ll have to go with “Honk if you are feeling horny” like you have on your other cars.

duncs500 wrote: Fri Mar 05, 2021 7:36 am The key is to leave the Elise at home in the garage when you need to go down the motorway on a winter's night.
I think I need to explain myself better ;)

I'm not suggesting slogging down the MWay there and back - more that I'd occasionally visit someone/somewhere and take the interesting route, but then coming back home late at night when you're tired and just want to get home.... you'd just use the motorway instead. That was always hard work in an S1.

It's the reason I loved the Evora in that it did both extremely well, but the Evora is a significantly more expensive ownership proposition (buying and running) so I wondered if the S3 Elise was any better in those stakes. I'm 40 years old this year - I need more comforts, not like my early 20's when I dailied my S160

:) TBF, it happened to me last summer. I took a scenic route up to go for a post work curry with some friends back home and had to find my way home in the dark. I decided to take the slightly slower A-road route back over the motorway but it was still pretty unpleasant when not on full beam. Need to upgrade my headlamps!
