Car washed whilst in for a service?

Wash it?

Yes, definitely. It's the least they should do.

No, they're there to service your car not make it shiny.

Car washed whilst in for a service?

Post by Simon »

Am I alone in thinking that when you're spending nearly £300 for a major service and the garage have the car all day, that the least they should do is wash the bloody thing? What's the expectation here amongst you lot?

In previous scenarios i have left a "do not wash" note on the wheel.

Dont want someone with a bucket full of grit n salt to rub it into my paint.

Yeah it’s one of the reasons they charge more. The 2 independents I use even wash my cars if they’ve been in for more than a few days.
How about not having a sig at all?

Just see your post on the other thread, that’s poor form, I’ve sent cars in for an hour for recall work and even then had them washed.

One of the guys I know has the valeting contracts for most of the main dealers around here and has 300 valeters and cleaners on furlough. Sytner are also closing Haverfordwest BMW. Generally it appears that they running dealerships on the minimum amount of staff that they can which probably explains why your car wasn’t cleaned.

When I've used main dealer services the car has always been washed, but I don't expect it.

The quality of the wash has always been very poor with obvious areas missed. It is a minimum effort piece of work, so I don't want to have any expectations about it.

With a nice small triangle where they've missed with the sponge and patches of left over grit, from it being poorly rinsed off?

I think he's referring to the fleet running reports thread where I comment that I took the Yeti in for a major service but got it back uncleaned.

My Volvo dealer always washes the car and hoovers out the inside.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Skoda's policy at the moment is not to clean. I asked them not to wash the Superb when it had its first service last month, and they told me they weren't cleaning any cars at the moment, 'cos Covid.

That explains a whole lot and is fair enough - cheers.

As long as they do a proper service and can get me my back back promptly, I really don't care if they wash my car or not.

Is “back back” your pet name for the new car?

Nottingham Porsche Centre always offer to wash the car after servicing but I ask them not to. We've compromised now, and they detail the interior for me instead.
