The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
Looks expensive.
Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
Their standard cost for a major service is £540 and there's nearly the same again in parts costs, so I can see how its escalated quickly from there
Cheers,
Mike.

That’s quite a reasonable bill for the work imo.
What is a shock is how much work was needed if it was all genuine.

Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
I discovered last year after buying the car that whilst it had been serviced regularly and looked in great cosmetic condition, the previous couple of owners clearly skimped on sorting out the sort of things which need done on a 14 year old car. It was obviously just a nice looking car to be seen driving around in, so I wasn't surprised by these things tbh.

I guess so.
Thought I'd be safe driving the mini this week but got done by a camera @81 on the m5.
My cars in for paint and still haven't heard about the front tyres being supplied.
Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
40mph flashing limit on part of the deserted m5 last night for a mile of cones with nobody doing any work, cruised though at 60 and then spotted someone on a bridge in a green hi-viz jacket pointing something at the motorway. Fingers crossed he was a surveyor or something.

Got car back and theyve made a properly good job of the bumper. Also had rust under the wee clear plastic at the bottom of the front arches. Guy says the plastic is about 50 per side so we didnt bother with that as the other side didnt have one and Ive had that fixed, sprayed already.
Did both bits for 250 which was actually 350 due to my cash machine error (see moaning forum).
Blackcirlces have been a right fucking pain getting my tyres to be honest. On back order for over a week I pointed out there were still selling them online but apparently this was an error. When I looked a few days later theyre still there so I ordered 2 more and wow they are being fitted tomorrow. They are also refunding the difference between as the no stock items were cheaper - this is only due to me having a kick off

That's good you've got the car back, just in time for the warmer weather finally arriving (hopefully).
How can stuff like those tyres be so goddamn difficult!?

Good point.
I think I need a GoPro mount for the car, that'll be easiest. Will check out eBay right now....

With everyone in the pubs it was an absolute blast around Matlock this evening.
I'm now sold on the mp4s fronts although I'm going to book it in at https://suspensionsecrets.co.uk/ as the geo feels out with new rubber on all 4 corners
Nice ice-cream!
Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
Nice picture.
The GoPro suction mount has arrived so I’ll get that on tomorrow and see how the exhaust sounds.

Get on with it
Having looked as the eye watering cost of a geo @ 300 quids plan B is 4 wheel alignment on a hunter. Anyone pointers to where I can find up ideal set up figures to take with me? @dan ?
Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
Mount bought and has been sitting in a box all week, things are a bit crazy with work. Mrs Mike has been taking the Boxster to her placement this week and she's woken me up like clockwork every morning at 6am when she starts it with the valves open....
Cheers,
Mike.

I am moving from "thinking about selling" to "no really I have to sell it" on the Boxster. 2006 3.2 S, 82,000 miles. Retrofit Pioneer ICE. Clutch is probably on the way but it's mechanically pretty decent I think. Few scratches on the bumper. I'm thinking 11,000?
Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
What’s the service history like?
My ‘55’ had 62k miles, mainly Porsche history but was due a major and I took £10.5k a month ago, advertised at £11,250. I could have waited for more and prices have certainly risen in the last few months. WBAC offered £8.5k in March and that went up to £10.5k in just over a month. £11.6k a few weeks after I sold. Try it.

Full dealer then Porsche specialist history (Northway). WBAC says £11,700 but I’m sure I’d be marked down for scratches.
Re: The "anything & everything" about Porsche Boxsters thread
Wait a week and they’ll offer you more. Arnold Clark and evans halshaw both offer a car buying service and guarantee a higher price than wbacExplosive Newt wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 9:25 pm Full dealer then Porsche specialist history (Northway). Certainly the best time to sell a drop top.
I really do love mine but it could benefit from about another 100 bhp. I think the long gearing does it no favours.
