Do dealers drive Jags ? I'd expect them to be more into Range Rovers & big BMs/Mercs.

Do we have any constraining requirements for this car? I’ve picked up comfortable and around £6-£8k? It actually leaves quite a lot

I may be in my thirties and fancy old Jags but I am not in fact dead.

God I’d love an old XJ. It just seems so unfathomably massive... I am feeling the XF is a bit on the big side already!Orange Cola wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 8:03 pm Go anywhere practical wagon for the commute, 2.5 days of snow we get a year and anything else you need space for

They’re absolutely fine, not massive by any means, XJ LWB’s are like parking the QE2 thoughExplosive Newt wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:45 pmGod I’d love an old XJ. That XJ does look quite nice.Explosive Newt wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:45 pmGod I’d love an old XJ. It just seems so unfathomably massive... I am feeling the XF is a bit on the big side already!
Unless you’re parking on the street a lot (i.e. parallel parking in tight spots) then the length doesn’t really matter. If anything it helps with the waftiness.
I think we’ve solved your conundrum

I think the X-type used Mondeo engines so not the same.JonMad wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 8:01 amIs this the same engine?

Edit - Incorrect! It is the same engine, but Jaguar's version of a Ford engine.

Re: Talk me out of buying a car
As has been said already. Supposed to be quite torquey low down so it suits the car, I doubt the V8 would be worse on petrol. 3.0D and V8 might not be in budget but would be my choice of engine.JonMad wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 8:01 amIs this the same engine?

3.0 Petrol in the X350 was always pick of the range and capable of 36mpg on a cruise

Re: Talk me out of buying a car
I had an X-type 3 L and I never found it especially punchy low down, although it was hamstrung to some extent by the old fashioned slush box auto with long gearing.Orange Cola wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:51 amAs has been said already.
