Re: Mini JCW thoughts
OK, I'm talking from experience of the heaviest and slowest example but from my experience:
Positives
Ridiculous levels of grip
communicative
great brakes and perfectly set up for heal and toe
Negatives
You will need a new spine if you go near a shitty british B road.

Re: Mini JCW thoughts
We've ordered a three door hatch, JCW, blue (although we may change that) with Nav Plus and Comfort pack, manual plus standard suspension on the bi-colour 18s. Not bothered with adaptive - occurs to me that I don't use it that often in the Panamera, so waste of money. Also not bothered with the HK hifi as the standard one was fine in the loan car I had the other day (vid on the YouTube channel over the weekend). Love the wider nav screen which comes with the Nav Plus pack though, plus better Bluetooth is handy, although I won't use the wireless charging thing. Ours will be one of the first JCWs to feature the electronic pod in place of the dials as per the GP, because apparently they've just changed that.
So a bit excited now. Delivery around mid-September. Then rest of car budget to go on something like a DB9 in due course.

I might be teaching you to suck eggs here but if you’re going to be making serious moves on a DB9 in at least September then you might as well wait until sales are really slow around Christmas and January and bargain hard.

Yeah 70 plate and yeah DB9 will then be later in the year or into January as need to send the Porsche back to, er, Porsche first otherwise have no room here. Although that being said I may have one more stab at getting it sold by giving to a specialist on SoR basis, need to look into that.

Go and read the thread on here about SoR, if that doesn’t put you off...ShockDiamonds wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 2:29 pm Yeah 70 plate and yeah DB9 will then be later in the year or into January as need to send the Porsche back to, er, Porsche first otherwise have no room here. I'm probably staring right at it without realising, but can you put your finger on it quicker and post a link please?Orange Cola wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 2:56 pmGo and read the thread on here about SoR, if that doesn’t put you off...ShockDiamonds wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 2:29 pm Yeah 70 plate and yeah DB9 will then be later in the year or into January as need to send the Porsche back to, er, Porsche first otherwise have no room here. Certainly. My concern is SoR, then add in COVID and places going bust (especially ones which come across as reputable!)ShockDiamonds wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 3:30 pmI'm probably staring right at it without realising, but can you put your finger on it quicker and post a link please?Orange Cola wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 2:56 pmGo and read the thread on here about SoR, if that doesn’t put you off...ShockDiamonds wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 2:29 pm Yeah 70 plate and yeah DB9 will then be later in the year or into January as need to send the Porsche back to, er, Porsche first otherwise have no room here. I just wouldn't risk it to be honest. How much of your Porsche is going into the Mini and how much into the Aston?
Could you not just trade it in against the Aston and go 'risk free'?

Mini is in addition whereas yeah the Porsche is switched for the Aston. Basically trying to decide whether to keep the Porsche here in order to have something larger should we need it (whilst the DB9 is still the preferred second car option, I may go for something else) or place it somewhere to see if it sells for a small ‘profit’ compared to the remaining finance. Don’t really want it here once the Mini arrives as that means cannot put the Mini in the garage with the Porsche in the way on the drive yadda yadda...Orange Cola wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 9:04 pm I just wouldn't risk it to be honest. Re: Mini JCW thoughts - New car ordered
“Over the last ten years, a new starter motor, coil packs and rear radius arms have been fitted with invoices to show.”
I wonder when the coil packs were done. I’m probably mad, but I’ve got this notion I’ll be able to do those myself, so it doesn’t really matter anyway. Been talking to a specialist today, the market is all over the place at the moment so that reserve seems realistic.
And John, no that’s the later 971 version, which is also the current model. Mine is the 970, first gen but G2 plugin hybrid version (not the very first version which would do about 12 inches on battery power alone).

Re: Mini JCW thoughts - New car ordered
The Top Gear review and Richard Meadens long term test of the DB9 are some of my favourites. I can’t remember where I read it (I’ve got Robbie Coltrane in my head saying it for some reason) but mentioning when blasting past lorries at speed the car barely reacted as a sign that the aero was spot on.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 2:11 pm Nice DB7 Vantage coming up at auction:

There's a couple of DB9s too.
So get a Vantage V600 and fit a standard grill instead.
Dave!

I wonder if it'll get a power hike to bridge the gap to the new GP.
