Car bargains - 2008 or worse?
Re: Car bargains - 2008 or worse?
They are dreaming if they think prices ain’t going downwards rapidly.
Also Jobson may be able to confirm but hearing lease purchase is the next issue- buyer liable for the baloon, regardless of the value. No longer days of pcp style hand back and walk away. A favourite of McLaren and the likes of oracle finance, who cold called me yesterday out of interest

There's lots of talk on the forums of people VTing their cars already. Modern flash stuff like m3/4s is going to take a huge hit soon, there's only so long the dealers will be able to prop it up.
Cheers, Harry

Voluntary terminating. When you just give it back and walk away once you've paid 50% of the financed value instead of keeping it to the full term of the agreement.

The pcp stuff is going to take a hiding as you say, also keep an eye of McLaren, already tragic residuals propped up by 799 monthlies from insta-famous fucktards and the aforementioned lease purchase timebomb.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:03 am Voluntary terminating. I had a non regulated variable rate lease purchase on my E92 M3 in 2008 it was a great product as I benefitted from the drop in interest rates post crash. The lease (monthlies) stay the same but the settlement figure and balloon reduce with interest rates.Foz wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:43 am They are dreaming if they think prices ain’t going downwards rapidly.

I understood the product and yes I was liable for the balloon.
My understanding is that these products can't be bought or sold to normal individuals anymore due to regulation.

It’s all going to come down to whether the lockdown lasts long enough to cause serious, long term job losses. Right now people with income are going to be largely sensible, people on reduced income or no income probably aren’t spending at all but that’s only going to be temporary for most (at the moment). If it goes on long enough that businesses start to fail in large numbers, that’s when we’ll see a real collapse in values, so summer will be a better indicator than now.

If 500e prices stay firm and Ariel Nomad prices plummet that would be great thanks.

I’m genuinely interested to see what Mustang prices do, they’re a bit different from the usual sports car offerings and have a bit of a niche following for a start. I don’t care what mine is worth, it’s mine and that’s what’s important to me, but if I can buy another V8 coupe for next to nothing then I’m all up for it
