Bluetooth speaker recommendations?

Post by Simon »

Right, so the OH has asked for a bluetooth speaker for the kitchen for her birthday this Saturday.

I know people talked about a Bose one, but that's discontinued, right?

Doesn't need to be battery powered, voice assistants aren't necessary but the ability to bluetooth to her phone AND also stream Spotify are reqs.

Need to get it ordered in the next couple of days so any recommendations?

SONOS

The Play:1 speakers are resistant to steam for use in kitchens and bathrooms

Bose Soundlink is back in production and recommended:

I bought this (when it was £25) but the sound is average at best IMO:

Soundlink II is great.

Also ive just bought this for the Lads birthday as he wanted one for his room. It sounds pretty decent for £40 - Tis nowhere near as good as the Bose obvs.

Note the smile bit on the link. If you buy from Smile.Amazon.co.uk they will donate a percentage of your purchase to a chosen charity. I donate to one that my mate works for to help parents of still born children called SIMBA.

That bit requires lots of extra ££

or... you could buy an Alexa Echo Dot and connect it to the Bose. The Echo standalone will do it with one device but it doesnt sound as good as the little Bose.

BUT what you really really want is a Sonos Play 5 as it kicks the ass off all of Bose's standalone speaker options. #evonomics #Timculator.

Just to bring some closure to this one, the Spotify Connect req got dropped, but being able to be used in the bathroom, and also on batteries got added.

So, I've bought her the Bose and a case for it too.

Thanks Richard, Matty and Scott!
