Like any version of Windows, avoid for atleast 6 months if you need reliability/stability.

This - 6 months is also my recommendation for new Windows version avoidance.

I upgraded my (admittedly non-critical) laptop, took no time at all and has worked flawlessly since.

Currently the fix is in beta, hopefully out for Novembers patch Tuesday.

It's Microsoft's quality control that annoys me the most, seeing it with Azure and various other products including Office 365, often one critical feature completely broken (and poor support) leads us to having to deploy alternative non MS solutions.

I haven't been following windows 11 in detail (other than or requiring a...TPM2 module I think which rules it out for hardware that really isn't that old) so, er, I'm no help. I'm Linux native, almost entirely these days.

The six month wait would be sensible though, I'd say. Nothing is going to be Win 11 exclusive for a while so it's not like there's a real rush.

Yeah, I put Win 11 on a spare laptop of mine and it's been fine so far.

I've looked at it, but none of my three laptops meet the CPU requirement. I'm not that bothered. If one dies, it'll be replaced by one that's capable/already have it. Until then we're fine.

One of my laptops has LMDE on it. My day job is 100% Linux based (Research Computing Engineer at Leeds Uni).

Linux mint? Is that Ubuntu for idiots, like how Ubuntu is Debian for idiots? (To be fair, I use manjaro, which is Arch for idiots)

Leeds uni? Another person from the forum who is within ten minutes drive who I'll probably never meet 8-)

I've got it running on a couple of Macs and it seems fine tbh - stable, pretty fast - albeit it still has the air of something that has a shiny front end that's built on years of shaky scaffolding.
Cheers,

Mike.

Now there's a blast from the past.

No, its much like Windows 10, nice and shiny but gets very confusing when you start to go digging for settings and stuff. Perfectly pleasant and usable though.

Yip, exactly like that. Which I have to say is progress, but I hate having to use it compared to macOS and Linux.

Win 10 was "good" so we're due another shit version.

Neither my laptop or desktop have a TPM2 module so I'd need to upgrade hardware to try it out and can't be bothered.

Backed up my Win 10 and installed, not looked back - Ryzen 5 3600x. Not seen any performance issues tbh, games run as before, if not better (fps).
