Keeping kids safe online

Post by DeskJockey »

Those with young ones, what do you use?

Trying to come up with a good solution.

Can't use Google Family Link because it isn't supported on GSuite (or whatever the legacy free service is called now).

Have Sophos Home and a Microsoft child account on the laptop, and run interceptor X on their tablets.

No Apple devices in the household.

Do have a Pi-Hole running.

Ideally want something joined up, so looking for inspiration.

Pi-Hole is your best bet isn't it? Can you figure it with family friendly DNS settings?

Definitely don't let your kids put their pi hole on the internet.

This'd be my first port of call, too, although beyond that I'd be googling the shit out of what whitelists etc to use.

Set up a child account on the laptop, enforced safe search, added lists to pi-hole, additional web filtering on his tablet, and have had a conversation about why.
