Cheap wheels again
Cheap wheels again
£120 for basic Logitech G29 / G920, £149 with shifter at Amazon.
How are these just clamped to a coffee table? Do you really need a wheel stand?

Re: Cheap wheels again
I clamp mine to my desk, it’s pretty sturdy and doesn’t move about. Only benefit of a wheel stand would be driving position. The shifter would be pretty useless clamped to the desk though.
How about not having a sig at all?

A wheel stand/full driving rig is better but you can just strap it to a desk edge. I've built a rig for my set up that lives in the lounge. This solution will probably not work with a wife, though.

Ive got the Wheels stand Pro and have it Bungie corded to the sofa in the games room. Wife well impressed...
Re: Cheap wheels again
GT Omega stand is only £100 ISH, worth it IMO. Why spend on a wheel then skimp on the mounting? I'm still contemplating a proper seat rig tbh, just cos I can.
I have the G29, bought in last year's sales, great bit of kit.

I didn't tidy up before taking this picture of the rig I built and I don't care.
That's a BMW seat and a logitech G27 connected up to my PC. Remember, don't drink and drive kids, unless it's in your lounge.

That's some fine woodwork Jimmy. TBH I'd probably use mine more if it was set up and ready to go on a proper rig.

That looks pretty good actually, will have to make one if I ever build a sim room ( shed ) in the garden.
The money people want for 'proper' rigs which are just a few chopped up lengths of off the shelf aluminium extrusion is absurd!

I'd expect you to make one using an actual car, like Sega World did with Ridge Racer.

I did start thinking I'd got a spare e36 dash, then remembered is given it to sundayjumper
Be easy enough to chop out enough of the floor pan for seat mount, centre console for gear shift and a pedal mount

Re: Cheap wheels again
That reminds me you can hook up those BMW dashboard clocks to a PC quite easily and get a really cool sim rig
