Fvck you Bing Maps, can’t really say I’m that impressed by AI either. Game is fucking awesome though.

It might not be photo accurate, but it certainly looks like scenery.

I mean...you know what I mean.

I've just landed in the sea near my house and while the buildings are not accurate (it has a good go) the roads are certainly recognisable.

The infrastructure and geography is exact as it’s all map data. The AI just estimates what a building will be and plonks something on it - tbh I’m not sure why it’s being praised so much. Pokemon Go did the same years ago but just didn’t put a random texture on the 3D objects.
Still need to fly over a real city and see how that is.

Not quite accurate. There are 3 different ways buildings and scenery are 'generated', depending on how much data they have from Bing...

Apparently Zürich has actual 3D data

I’ll see if I have any more pics from planes but not many European cities are 3D

The quality seems to vary between them too. Zürich and Southampton were pretty bad, I prefer the made up cities compared to those. Most of the major American cities are much better done. Had good fun being an Alaskan Bush pilot and landing on the hills and beaches there but rather a lot of the mountains look odd with strips of melted textures. Also I’m not sure if there’s a setting for it but I can visibly see the mountains degrading in quality greatly as draw distance increases.

Ah,now in P3D days you could tweak that. Not sure about MSFS. Need to research.

It's pretty clear to me playing with it, as beautiful as it undoubtedly is, this is a game not a simulation in it's present form. There are too many basic things missing for it to take on X-Plane and P4D.

The weather is incredible though. Visually if X-Plane was like this I'm not sure I'd ever get any work done. :D

Tim, have you been watching the insider videos during development, on YouTube? They've completely redone the flight model - I find it much more realistic than the other 2, although confess that I haven't put in as much time to XPlane as you.
