Getting new car?

This seems reasonable but does anyone like how the actual car looks?

Got an order for Ioniq EV 38kwh, due Feb. Cheap two year deal so I thought I'd try a PCH. Ioniq is hardly sexy either but nice interior and a good run about with respectable range.

Isn't it Ioniq, don't you think? Just a little bit Ioniq, yeah, I really do think.

A northern man turned 48
Never won the lottery but rented a EV anyway
It's a shitbox now parked on his driveway
Like a death throe hardon two minutes too late
Isn't it Ioniq, don't you think?

It's like a drain on his monthly wage
It's the free ride that he's already paid (for)
It's the good advice that you're going to hate
But at least you can quote mpg figures

I hope you enjoy it though Baz ;)

Thanks for that. I think.

And it's not Evo granted, but for daily grind it'll be "enjoyable" I reckon. I'll get my kicks elsewhere. 8-)

10/10

Good to see the Megane at near Golf R prices. Think I'll stick with mine though.

You'll have to mate!

Perhaps when choosing your annual electricity tariff

I know that your heart lies with the bikes though really and I get that.

No you don't you're 'being mean' 😂.

Remember when Baz used to moan so much Mick set up his own Moaning Forum? Can we have a new one?

I was quite an angry young man for sure, very different these days. As for the EV, think of it as a new appliance that'll get me around cheaply and efficiently so I can concentrate my fun elsewhere, I don't see it as a new car in that sense.

Also, yes my electric bill will go up but not paying ever increasing UL prices at 28mpg will dry my eyes

It's an interesting project. Hope you enjoy it. I would say money wise you'll smart as it's the same as my 15 golf with 10k miles.

How much is the excess mile charge

I reckon there'll be some satisfaction from running it, not sure I'm expecting to enjoy it per se. Money wise, I'll not have to pay £27/mnth VED or 28mpg UL each month, which takes some of the pain away at least. A few quid to charge it up and it'll do my commute for a week or thereabouts.

Excess is 8p/mile, so the 5k policy over run to 8k technically cheaper but I have a feeling I'll run over 8k anyway if the car proves half as useful as I'm hoping. I expect to use it for commuting a lot more than I do the Civic, due to the cheaper fuel and far easier driving experience.

I wanted a GolfR PCH but never seemed to find one anywhere near this price.. DSG estate would be my ideal compromise I suspect, fun with practical.

Not too bad excess.

Windrush vw got in touch to ask about my next car only today. There's nothing near at the moment.

Eeking out mpg is fun even in mine. Eco actually lets it cruise at 69ish with no revs.

I still take our MCs clubman out at night as it's more of a driving occasion.

Like you say you've your bikes for thrills

Did some fag packet sums, I reckon it'll cost me £1k/£1500 extra over the Civic for the two year period, but I won't have old car worries/niggles, MOT issues, tyres/servicing costs and I get to be in a brand new car for a change. I just need something on the drive to do the boring stuff, I rarely use the car for fun.

I actually reckon I'll get some perverse entertainment from it, just not the traditional driving fun that this forum is all about, or used to be all about..

Actually trying to figure out if I can justify/fit in the garage/house *another* bike tbh... Teneré 700 is tempting for stomping around B lanes/light off road fun. Not sure if it could replace the Tracer entirely..

it sounds like a bit of an odd choice to me.

It’ll cost you more for your daily driving.
You’ll need to hire a car to do long journeys.
You’ll need to hire a car to have any chance of fun driving.

I can see the appeal of EVs, but this compromise seems a step too far?
