Live Music?? (NDYC's)

Post by McSwede »

Anyone gone to see anything recently??

I went to see Muse at the Millennium Dome on Sunday. They were superb!!

I used to go to loads but since getting tinnitus not so many  I had custom musicians earplugs made which I need to wear now at gigs to prevent any further damage :(

Used to go to loads but haven't been to see anything in ages.

Last show I went to was Kendrick Lamar at Bellahouston park last year.

I go quite often, some bands you just have to see live, Iron Maiden always put on a hell of a show. I've recently discovered the 02 Academies. Loads of concerts in smaller venues for a fraction of the price of a normal concert ticket.

I love Iron Maiden and live they're great. Seen them a few times and best was probably at Rock am Ring in Germany 2005.

Band I've seen the most would be Motorhead at 36-37 times (IIRC). Can't think how I got tinnitus

I've seen them 3 times but not since the Fear of the Dark tour... Brilliant Live band...

My friend got to go onstage with the crew for the Iron Maiden encore in Donnington 1988

Last gig I went to was Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks in Manchester, which was awesome. Before that was Run the Jewels last year, I think.

I go and see New Model Army every tour. Probably averages 2-3 a year, whether full band or acoustic gigs.

I saw them on this tour earlier in the year at the Olympic Stadium. It’s a great show. The dancers were especially awesome, right?

Bought my tickets on StubHub for £30 each the day before, which felt much better than £75 each

Think this was the only concert I’ve been to this year.

Next on my list, blink 182 should be touring soon. Bowling For Soup are coming back in February.

Tickets are so expensive though.

I'm old fashioned and wasn't fussed about the dancers  I just want a rock band to get on stage & rip through the set list. We paid just over £100 a ticket which is rude as fuck. Bands take the piss nowadays for live ticket prices.

I had a bit of a gap too, before The Book of Souls tour I hadn't seen them since No Prayer on the Road in '91!

Thinking back - it was the Real Live tour that was my last - No Prayer on the Road, Fear of the Dark and Real Live tour. Never liked Blaze Bailey so didn't go on the next few tours...

I've never seen Adrian Smith play though ... :(

Yep, I lost interest during the Bailey years. Adrian Smith is a guitar legend. Always amusing to see what Janick does on stage and still manage to keep playing.

Foals in Brum in June. Really good, although they appeared to be in the process of fallining out with one another. Better than my last concert birthday present, Bastille 😆

I always preferred Dave Murray's guitar style, more bluesy than Smith but the synchronised solo's and the transitions from one solo into another were always awesome...

Gers can play a bit too...

I've got a few coming up, The Who, Tenacious D, Iron Maiden, Billy Joel and Wu Tang Clan.

Looking forward to Tenacious D the most I think!

A couple of friends have seen The Who recently and said they weren't great, but it's a night out!

Despite loving music and being into allsorts, I hardly ever go and see anyone live.

Stone Roses at Wembley was the last ‘proper’ gig (2017?). Fucking ace though.

In a similar vein, what’s your oddest line-up???

When I saw Paul Weller back in the late 90’s the had Fun Lovin’ Criminals before (ok...) and Run DMC after (whaaa??? )

 odd night. Weller was awesome though

Last time I saw the Stone Rose's at the Etihad they had Public Enemy as their support, Public Enemy were far better than the Rose's were!
