I'm a little confused as to why it's called the Taycan Turbo..?

Because since almost everything else Porsche sell is turbocharged, "Turbo" is just a trim/performance level now.

So like Vauxhall then. Classy.

I only recently noticed that Vauxhall have started sticking Turbo badges on all their cars like it's the 80s. That's some dumb shit.

Good to see the prestige brands doing it too .

All Insignias are turbo’d, don’t know about the rest of the models, but I expect most are these days.

I know they probably all have turbos, that surely makes the badges more redundant.

It's like sticking on a badge that says engine.

Although if there's anyone that's likely to be impressed by a turbo badge these days it would be the kind of knucklehead that would buy a new Vauxhall.

They should still have the “abs” badge too for full effect!

16v DOHC Turbo Injection

'Injection' is definitely something that all manufacturers did in the early 90's as Fuel Injection became standard. Took years for them to disappear.

But to have a Turbo badge on an EV is utter stupidity. Blame 'Influencers'.

TBH a badge saying DOHC would probably be useful.

I spend so much of my time watching people mess around with old V8s on youtube it takes me a second to figure out what's going on when I look at something that doesn't have pushrods .

I miss the E on the end of a Merc model name for an injected petrol version. C250 Bluefficiency doesn't immediately make me think it's a 200bhp petrol.

Because that’s how Porsche brand their performance cars? Fucking obviously

Or perhaps you’ve not noticed this over the last few decades?

It's a bit stupid when the car doesn't have a turbo though.

You can be a right cunt at times.

What a knob. Porsche have only ever used that nomenclature on cars which have had an actual turbo.

They omitted it in certain instances where it was more relevant to call it something else (i.e. GT2) or where they're ashamed of it (718 and 991.2 and 992 Carreras and to preserve the cache of the fastest 'Turbo') but never the other way round for a non-turbo motor. Its eye gougingly stupid on an electric car.

The american-ish pronounciation "Tie Can" rather than "Tay Can" also grates. Anyway - I'm going to sooth my nerves by listening to some Tyler Swift and then maybe go for dinner at... er... Tayyabs. Oh bollocks.

It would've made far more sense to call the faster one the 'S', like the Boxster, Cayman, 911, etc.

I just thought it was an odd choice for an electric car...

I suspect there’ll be an S and a non-S too.

Agreed, to both statements

The use of Turbo on an electric car is FUCKING RETARDED. I thought it was a joke at first.

They’ve also got the moniker GTS in the line up too. I wonder how many different versions of essentially the same thing they’ll make... we have a name so therefore we must have a model to fit it!
