Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged
Interesting that they tried to get the Tesla up the ramp, but had to resort to lifting it onto the flat bed. There’s rumours of heat soak issues, but I doubt we’ll ever know for sure.
Taycan looks good in that green.

EV's can throw a massive tantrum if they are towed so the instruction to the driver may have been it simply cannot be towed at all.
Or it just broke something more fundamental like a driveshaft.
Not sure how rumours of heat soak correlate with the 7:20 lap?
Looking forward to seeing a Taycan in the metal, 50mm lower than a Panamera sounds very promising.

I'd guess they are estimating from sector times.
You know, in the same way I can run a four minute mile, if I take all the times I sprinted for ten seconds before collapsing in a sweating gasping heap, cut the sweating gasping parts off, and added them together.
Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged
Actually I thought it was hand timed during industry pool where official timing is not allowed.Beany wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 10:42 amI'd guess they are estimating from sector times.

But y'know conspiracy theories are cool too.
Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged
its not really a conspiracy theory - they tried to do a fast lap and failed. I can’t turn up at the olypics and tell Usain Bolt that I have run a 9 second 100m at home so I win!RobYob wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:03 amActually I thought it was hand timed during industry pool where official timing is not allowed.Beany wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 10:42 amI'd guess they are estimating from sector times.

Wot Rich said. Tesla claim to have improved their BMS, but there's no evidence of that, and they have previously had massive issues with consistent hard use.
It's literally Occams razor; without evidence of a massive upgrade in battery management tech, it makes more sense to assume they're bully bullshitting; that which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
Now, if they release some video footage of it managing a whole lap, that'd be different.

I like Tesla and their fuck you approach to the car industry, but turning up at the ring with a modified car on a day you can’t do timed runs and claiming production car records is just silly.

Have they claimed? Or have they just said "we think we can do"? There is a difference.

Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged
I think some magazine claimed it and the internet spread it. I don't think Tesla have said anything.

Ah, I'd missed that, I'd only seen the magazine claim. That's just a made-up theoretical guess.

That was for the benefit of the others tbh Dave.

So all the independent witnesses to their i-pool times are conspiring to mislead the internet.Rich B wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:08 amits not really a conspiracy theory - they tried to do a fast lap and failed. Sounds vaguely conspiratorial to me.

they’re journalists/bloggers looking for a big/shocking story (and getting one).RobYob wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 12:24 pmSo all the independent witnesses to their i-pool times are conspiring to mislead the internet.

Nice video. Useful, in Jonny's typical style. Not too much said about the handling but enough I guess.
Left over crest; tightens.
Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged
Not Taycan related, but I suppose this could just be the general 'relaxed electric car thread', seeing as FC is a pretty laid back show.
So, MG ZS electric?
Cheap, decent range, available, perfectly reasonable build quality, 90s warm hatch performance - sounds like a perfectly valid piece of white goods.
Thoughts?

It’s an MG so no. No no no.
How about not having a sig at all?
