Bye Bye Boris!
Re: Bye Bye Boris!
No one is suggesting reducing the voting age to zero though Jobbo.
I can't think of a downside to giving the vote to 16 year olds. Every argument against in this thread already happens within the voting population and there are smart, politically engaged 16 year olds that can't get involved for no good reason.

What about the smart 15 year olds or the thick 21 year olds? Zero response to that I hope.ZedLeg wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:39 pm No one is suggesting reducing the voting age to zero though Jobbo.

Re: Bye Bye Boris!
Yeah, I saw that. The dozy cunt didn't like it being pointed out that anyone who fought in the wars would be 90-95 years old, and absolutely not a baby boomer.
Literally almost no-one who fought in the war has a vote on this, because almost all of them are fucking dead.
Re: Bye Bye Boris!
thick 21 year olds can already vote Broccers. Lets get the 16 year olds the vote then we can look at where to go after that .Broccers wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:44 pmWhat about the smart 15 year olds or the thick 21 year olds? Let them go to adult prisons then. Works both ways.ZedLeg wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:39 pm No one is suggesting reducing the voting age to zero though Jobbo.

Bonkers - I cant say I understand your view on life. Ok, you seem to be trying to prove a point I haven't argued. What we should do is give people a vote on whether 16 year olds should be treated as adults but let 16 year olds vote on it. They can decide whether they want to vote and all go to jail apparently .

18-20 year olds don’t go to adult prison but they get to vote.Jobbo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:50 pmLet them go to adult prisons then. Works both ways.ZedLeg wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:39 pm No one is suggesting reducing the voting age to zero though Jobbo.

If anyone would benefit from an heroic dose of DMT, it’s Broccers.

Re: Bye Bye Boris!
16-17yr olds don't go to the same place as 18-25yr olds either. There's a specific reason for the distinction between different adults. However, children (16-17yr olds) are treated differently by the criminal justice system, given anonymity before conviction etc.NotoriousREV wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:56 pm18-20 year olds don’t go to adult prison but they get to vote.Jobbo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:50 pmLet them go to adult prisons then. ETA: Zed, I'm just making clear the distinction between child and adult. Being legally an adult is the reason why voting, being permitted to become an MP and so on is restricted to those 18 and over. Your list of things people can do before they're 18 was pretty spurious, and in some places blatantly incorrect, which is why I'm still banging on about it.

No, it's just very well phrased. As I have an appreciation of the use of the English language when it comes to hyperbole, I enjoyed it very much.
Always good of you to use peoples medications and mental illness as an attempted barb though, showing great maturity there.

Re: Bye Bye Boris!
A few issues with the quiz:
- I think the 'should single use plastics containing less than 50% biodegradable material' is a terrible question. Unless it's 100% biodegradable it won't biodegrade! Even if it is 100% biodegradable it will need specialist infrastructure to allow it to biodegradable (throwing it in the compost heap won't work) which the UK doesn't have. IMO the government need to invest more in infrastructure, particularly on chemical recycling of plastics. So I support the issue that the question is getting at but because I disagree with the policy mechanism that they are specifically suggesting I have to answer 'no'
- The questions of supporting fox hunting is one of opinion on the issue, not on policy. Personally I do not support fox hunting but I also don't particularly feel that it's something that the government should ban, which I suspect is what the question is trying to get at
- can't choose multiple options, e.g. flat rate of tax and removing loopholes
Anyway
91% Green
89% Lib Dem
79% Labour
40% Conservative
36% UKIP
16-18s should be able to vote but it shouldn't be done in this way.
