I told MrsREV last night that I needed to pop out to ASDA. She asked me to pick up a Valentines card for her to give to me. I suggested we just don’t bother and she agreed. Result.

I'm surprised people still bother with all this shite.

I just buy a card. Women like cards.

about 10 years ago I agreed to go out to dinner on the day with my missus (after years of protesting against the idea). it was exactly as expected - the restaurant (that we’d been to previously) had zero atmosphere with no bigger groups, just a load of couples sat there not wanting to be the loudest in there. The menu was shit (set) and they farmed in 3 sittings into the Evening so it all felt rushed.

It was worth it though, we never had to go out on Valentine’s Day again!

We tend to look after the children of couples who actually like each other on Valentines day...

The O/H is working tonight, luckily, so I'll get a quiet evening cleaning up the Scalextric or lancing a boil or something. We'll go out on Saturday when things are back to 'normal'.

I usually try and find a nice hotel somewhere with the sort of restaurant that doesn't get filled up with bored couples looking at their phones, and have a night away as well as a nice meal.

Sometimes I even take my girlfriend. :)

We're off to The Gunton Arms in North Norfolk later, seems to fit the bill nicely.

I see Nuttinnew has hacked my iCloud again.
Rev, did you not spot that a dozen red roses is a tenner in Asda?

It wasn't the cost, I just really, really didn't want to get off the sofa and go out.

Oh, I had to - we'd run out of butter. And you can't recreate Last Tango with Utterly Butterly, it's not right.

My wife got me a card, but had a chat with my son who has kind of had a girlfriend this last while and asked if he’d got her a card. He obviously hadn’t so gave my card to him to write and started to supervise/help him write it. He didn’t seem too enthused and after much bickering it turns out that they’re “on a break”.

By this point he’d half written the card, so she took it off him, tore it up and threw it in the bin.

So at least i got a card today. It’s been sellotaped back together and there’s some stuff in it that’s been crossed out (like another name), but its the thought that counts right?
Cheers,

Mike.

Indeed it is - in this instance, the thought would appear to be "well i want to give him something but no fucking way can I be arsed going to the shops again"

I cut out heart shapes and left a trail of clues leading to some nice cheeses. The trail is cunningly and well laid.

I leave you to choose your own punchline. :)

Me and the other half avoid going out on Valentine’s Day for a meal, this year we’ve bought ourselves some nice beer to try but we haven’t bothered with cards as it just seems pointless. Plus it’s a year since we lost my nan so I’m not in the mood.
