Excellent. I don’t need any more knives at this point.... but I am interested to see how much more efficient the fedex option is.

Thought I'd add this to the proper Mik approved knife thread. 👍

New Santoku knife arrived today from China. 67 layer Damascus and super sharp. Shaved some arm hairs and sliced a tomato as a quick check. It's a really lovely thing, way better than I was expecting. I think I'll be ordering some more of their knives now.

It's bloody annoying as it's a nice knife, but that dip in the middle just means everything you slice stays connected by a tiny bit.

Also it bit my thumb, but that was probably my fault :p

Which - if you need to chop and draw/push to get a clean cut - is going to kinda limit how often you choose to use it...

It doesn’t seem right - the flat blade is indeed the purpose. Return it!

Get a curved chopping surface.

I really need to spend some time building my confidence using the whetstones - super scared to try the really nice knives on them in case I fuck them up!

Thankfully the brand new Smeg knives have already gone dull so might go try those first.

Just to bring you knife wankers down to earth, I bought a full set of knives in Lidl last week for £22.00. They're sharp, and they cut things very well. My last shit set was from Debenhams over 20 years ago. They were still sharp, but the handles fell off. You've all been robbed.
Cheers.

You must have a classy wife G.

My nice big ( still cheap ) ProCook Santoku keeps getting thrown in the dishwasher by my missus.

I bought her a Victornix Pairing knife set for Valentine's Day and in 4 days she's bent the tip on one "taking the top off something!" and almost severed the top of her finger with another. Apparently they are dangerous lol

I use mine on my kitchen knives quite regularly but I’m dreading needing to sharpen my lars fält camp knife.

Thankfully, it gets used so infrequently, it’s still razor sharp

Working classy, yes, in that she doesn't require a jewel encrusted samurai sword to chop a fucking onion to make her happy
Cheers.
