Ours are being allowed to explore the garden.

distracted/possessed by seeing a wasp.
I think this guy has been crossed with a seal at some point, he doesn't look like a cat a times.

It is quite excellent - he has a dark stripe from his right eye all along his back and down his tail. He also has a dark stripe across one of his pink paw pads. He’s called Badger, obviously 😃

They are fantastic Simon, nice one. Our only regret was not getting 2 when we got Maya. Kittens playing together are teh awsum.

So, what does that bring the pet count up to?

Should have been 9, but we sadly lost that guinea pig overnight. He was old but his timing was uncanny; he gradually went from good health on Friday to waking up dead this morning. Lovely little chap. RIP Scampi.

The remaining 8 are 6 cats and 2 dachshunds. Dogs are far more hassle than cats!

Talk to me about insurance lads. Who do you use?

Never had insurance on Liz as she was an old rescue with no vet history so the payments were too high to make sense but these two young ‘uns are likely to be around for a while so it makes sense.

Have some pictures while I’m here.

Petplan's Classic for life with the £7,000 limit. Premium's last year were about £16/mo, now they're about £18/mo. Not had to claim yet luckily. With my last cat I never had insurance, but with what I paid out in the last 18 months of her life in fees I'm probably 'flat'. Wanted to spread the risk a little better with Maya.

Cool, I got a quote from them for £26 a month to cover both of them which seemed reasonable. Wanted to see if anyone had dealt with them.

If we’d just got one again I don’t know if I would bother with insurance but with two I could see just the routine bills mounting up.

Never had a cat- not for lack of want, but because my ex-racing greyhound has other ideas about what cats are for. Per plan have paid out quite a bit for her, without any quibble. Excess started about £80, went up to £100 as she aged, now she is coming up to 12 years old the excess is £115 plus 20% of the total cost. Payments have gone from £15 a month when we got her aged 5 to £32 now aged 11

Get them into (raw) chicken wings while they are young, it’s the best thing for cleaning their teath and they love them.

We lost one cat at the beginning of last week; our munchkin (that's what he was, he had short legs):
Image

Not sure quite how he died. He just looked asleep on the lawn, but it was a bit more of a deep sleep than that  He was 10, so not old age; I suspect he may have been hit by a bicycle because he didn't appear particularly injured, though his middle looked sore.

The kittens are gorgeous and mental, albeit not a substitute for my little favourite.
