I went up Bredon Hill on a windy day a few weeks ago. When sitting at the top, two families each with a greyhound appeared separately. The greyhounds had a fantastic time running around up there. Lovely dogs.

Our fatter dachshund seems to have sprained one of his back legs falling into a hole when walking last week. His back seems ok (phew), but he winces when you touch his leg. Hope he gets better soon so he can start his exercise regime to go with his diet.

Go you give him any supliments? We used to give May yumove, worked wonders. Omega 3 used to help too as it has a mild anti inflammatory effect in dogs, also helps their coat

Ours isn't so good but I have a strong suspicion Vets are more in it for the money than love. The receptionist form filling nazis have no idea.

Alfie got dropped off at ours on Wednesday afternoon, so far proving himself to be a brilliant dog- perfectly clean, no accidents, hasn’t cried overnight and straight into eating properly- all things we expected to struggle with at first so he’s exceeded expectations. He walks well on lead, he has the lead at full stretch but doesn't pull. He’s going to need training as he doesn’t know any commands- but so far so good

Found some photos of our savage wee beastie a couple of winter ago. Beany filter has been used.

Been a while since I put anything about Jackson who is now 18 weeks old.

He was very exercise intolerant but we put it down to the minor murmur we were told he had and waited for it to get better, sadly it didn't...

So we took him to our vet and asked them to categorise the murmur and they said it was a little more severe than we'd been told but still nothing much to worry about, he still didn't improve so we took him again and asked again for a categorisation and blood count etc to rule out anaemia. He wasn't anaemic and we got a referral to Langford Small Animal Hospital and took him a week ago....

Cardiologist took one listen and immediately categorised it as a grade 6 (out of 6) then took him off for a echocardiogram for an hour or so, when she came back she reeled off a laundry list of defects

1. Atrial septal defect aka hole between top chambers of heart
2. Ventricular septal defect aka hole between bottom chambers of heart
3. Malformed tricuspid valve (right side between top/bottom chambers)
4. Malformed mitral valve (left side between top/bottom chambers)
5. Extra membrane in right atria
6. Narrowing of pulmonary artery preventing adequate flow to lungs

All added up its a seriously life limiting condition and no complete solutions exist to cure it - we were offered a balloon catheterisation procedure that would hopefully open up his artery a little along with the tricuspid valve and improve flow but it costs £4565 minimum (assuming no extra catheters etc needed) so we asked for pre-authorisation from insurance company who have refused on grounds it was pre-existing (I can see their point) and we're not paying that sort of money for something that isn't wrapped in an iron clad guarantee.

He's pretty happy within himself and is growing at a reduced rate so is only 9kg at 18 weeks, tries to chase and play with cat (who is pretty tolerant) but walks very slowly when out of house and his gums go very white from lack of blood flow! He's never collapsed as yet but we wait for the day - although that may never happen - worst risk is sudden cardiac arrest but over time he'll get increasing right sided failure and need diuretics until we have to do the right thing and let him go humanely.

Gutted

Before you ask - we've contacted breeder - who has gone silent and can claim caveat emptor as she "warned us" and will write to her vet who diagnosed initial murmur and will likely complain to ours but they did say they weren't specialists and didn't have the expertise to categorise it accurately during the final time we took him before referral.

Flash had one for about 20 minutes, rammed it against the door frame and managed to break it and just looked at me. He then wore a t-shirt and duct tape to cover his bits

Well my friend went on a last minute holiday for 5 days so I got this fella yesterday

He only told me as he left that it’s normal for him to not sleep at night and wake up at 6am
I’m going to be cranky as hell by the time he gets collected again. Also he’s so small that I’m afraid of accidentally crushing him. My dog must weigh 4 times as much!

Always wonder about blokes with small dogs

Went to the shops earlier and a neighbour who used to fuss ours asked how he was, seemed to upset her quite a lot when I said he'd passed away at easter.

Yep we always have trouble finding underwear accommodating enough to fit our package in.
