I dearly want another hound. I still miss my Vizsla a lot and it's been a couple of years.

The current pair are ok. I enjoy walking them twice a day and they're no trouble but I've not really bonded at all. Good family pets but far too manic and scatty for me really. The conversations I used to have with the dog happen with the cat now...

I've had three dogs in the house before though and it's a bit much. The kids are a full time job at the moment as well so I'm looking forward to when I've enough time and energy to devote to a proper dog.

I think the main problem with the current pair is that the dog is no Alpha dog. He looks up to and takes guidance from the bitch who happens to be very stupid indeed. They are very close though so I just let them get on with it.

Might get a Ridgeback, always liked them since one put my Weimaraner in it's place years ago. My dog had been challenging for a fight for weeks, fronting up and acting all menacing like, growling and so forth. The Ridgeback seemed completely oblivious until one day he just quietly opened his jaws and pinned all 35kgs of Weimaraner to the ground with them and held him there until he stopped being a prick

Current pair on the common last week.

Bless em, unloved ha.

Thats the fear I have replacing ours. From the post last week I look at borrowmydoggy.com which seemed like a great idea.... but the paying to walk other folks puppies because they didn't realise that after xmas they would have to devote time to them put me off.

Plus its grim outside and our carpets are clean :)

The wife is making a good go of her business and is adding more walking clients by the week and we also now have our boarding licence. The only problem is our boy is definitely an Alpha dog, he has to be top dog whenever he is out walking with the wife and only seems to get on with smaller dogs (apart from a few selected friends), unless he is with me as he sees me as number 1 so does as he's told. Boarding will be a challenge as I'm not always around and can't be there for introductions.
I'd still like another one and fancy a boxer, but we'll have to see where we are after we come back from France in August as I will want another full year to train any other dog before we go away again.

Nearly 5 months old now and over 15kgs.

She's a cracking thing as she's just picked up commands and manners from the old dog other than pinching food which he used to do at the same age :D

Alphonso seems to enjoy the puppy play to certain extent before giving her a pasting 8-)

She's already much bigger than him though albeit not quite the same weight so not sure if he'll keep his crown.

4 weeks ago we collected the newest member of our household, a black labrador we've named Darwin.

He's doing well - loves the cat (who secretly loves him!) Just gotta get his second vaccination on Tuesday and he can officially meet the world - coronavirus notwithstanding - although unofficially we've taken him out the past week or so to harden his pads a little on the path around our estate.

He's a chunky boy as well! 12 weeks and 12kg or so already, loves his food and has some basic commands already - just gotta stop him peeing in the house now as even when door is open and pads are down he does it anywhere but outside or on a pad during the day, at night he's much better and sleeps through till 7am or so most days and uses the pads in the kitchen.

If you look at Post 1 on this thread you can see her as a tiny little thing just born.

Forgot to add to my "I'm back" post that we've also acquired a dog. Meet Roxy, our 8 month old miniature Labradoodle. She really is the sweetest natured dog I've ever encountered.

Question for anyone with dark/black dogs- does your dog get dandruff? Alfie gets loads, just wondering if anyone’s used something that helped
