Our choccie lab has always had itchy skin probs. Yumega oil works very well (add to food once a day) but it seems to have doubled in price recently so I am looking for an alternative...

Edit : just found (and bought) at closer to the old price here:

Our pups are getting regular doggy day care visits to our local kennels - my wife is a key worker and much busier than the was, so they're getting a fun day out three times a week. The kennels really seem to like them, and they regularly appear on their Facebook photo feed:

I'm assuming the photos are public:

A family member had a Staffie with persistent skin problems. A raw diet fixed it.

I add a raw egg including the crushed up shell a few time’s a week for Flash and despite regular river swims his coat and skin are lovely.

Also Crill oil is effective, a 400ish ml bottle lasts about a year.

Making me want a second dog this thread, our boy is 5 next month and he still doing well and pretty much as manic as ever, despite maturing and having his nuts done (waste of time and money that was and I won't get another boy done). I'm not allowed a second at the moment but when I do I think I'd like a Boxer. Charlie wil have to learn to share the house with another dog permanently (we have had the occasional border) then.

A second dog is about 10% more effort than one. Do it. 8-)

Training the new one has been easy as she just copies the old boy. Poodles seem to be much less flighty than Spaniels so her recall is 99% already at 6 months 😎

She's going to be a big bugger though, 20kg already.

If you can, get a second dog. Best thing I did. As Mik says, not a lot more effort. In fact it was Mik and ScottA that helped persuade me to get my second!

People don't realise just how big standard poodles are! They're very smart dogs too - second only to Border Collies in intelligence. You mention poodle and people automatically think of little toy poodles.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

We will have to see where we are after this virus calms down. the boarding licence will need to be changed as we are restricted over the amount of dogs we can have and a second dog reduces our capacity by 50% so it may not be a goer if we can't increase it.

Alfie on his favourite chair in the conservatory. If you sit on it when he wants to, he used to stand and cry at you. Now he’s taken to standing at the door as if to be let out, waits until you get up to open the door and pinches your seat. Clever bastard
